@BassRck5000 I don’t agree. Such nihilism and hopelessness doesn’t help anyone.

Using coal, oil, and gas is "good for the economy." What's not to like? Cheap fuel producing lots of energy and big profits. Capitalism loves fossil fuels!

Except using fossil fuels adds huge amounts of greenhouse gases to our atmosphere — and those greenhouse gases act as a blanket, retaining far too much of the sun's heat.

Fossil fuels cause global warming, which then causes our climate to change. Capitalism doesn't really care about all that, of course, as long as their big profits keep rolling in.

Ultimately, however, there is a price to pay for climate change, a very steep price. And do you know who pays it?

The poorest and the weakest, those who are least responsible for causing the problem, but who are most vulnerable to the resulting devastation.

This is called climate coloniality. And Farhana Sultana (@farhanasultana) has published a new book on the subject...
______________________________

Confronting Climate Coloniality exposes how legacies of colonialism, imperialism, and capitalism co-produce and exacerbate the climate crisis, creating disproportionate impacts on those who contributed the least to climate change. Climate coloniality is perpetuated through processes of neoliberalism, racial capitalism, development interventions, economic growth models, media, and education.
