I've gone down a deep rabbit hole working on a strange new project: a standalone After Dark module player for modern macOS. No OS emulation or ROM required -- just the original classic Mac OS AD module files! I can't believe this is working!

@aheimbuch Those things show up everywhere now
@aho Heh, in both cases for me, the cameras went up after a weird incident, and I wanted to make sure if that incident happened again, I'd have video of it.
Companies are coming around to the appeal of mini racks :)
Exaviz sent their new Cruiser board to test, and DeskPi sent over their prototype mini rack mount for it. My experience upgrading my open source Pi NVR here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2LayXUxMjPU
@murteza Leap second offset originally. Now hitting some annoying Intel driver bugs on Linux :)
Did you ever have a day where you have one task.
And you open up the app, open the file...
Then spend 8 hours on a completely separate task, and wonder how it's already 5 pm?
(At least I got this particular clock down from 37 seconds off to 200ms off...)
@gary_alderson I have a lawyer, but not the funds to try attacking orgs that could sink a few million dollars into fighting a lawsuit at the drop of a hat.
@devin_and_earth @claudeai Haha well not in accounting terms / 'reality', but the valuations allow them to purchase billions in hardware and data center capacity.
re @claudeai
I've identified industrial-scale copyright violations on my content by Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, X, and more.
These companies created thousands of crawlers incorporating the text of all my blog posts, open source code, and books into their paid AI models to profit exorbitantly.
The madlads at Pimoroni overclocked an RP2350 microcontroller from the base clock of 150 Mhz to a whopping 861.6 MHz.
It looks like 400-500 MHz can be stable on most Pico 2s, which is still wild.
See: https://learn.pimoroni.com/article/overclocking-the-pico-2
@bosconet @newsguyusa I'll ask him about it. I know at least one station here in STL is still powered by a tube! (KSHE-95)
Open source maintainers already had enough to worry about before the ongoing agentic AI revolution... my thoughts on recent AI-induced problems in open source development: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bZJ7A1QoUEI

I understand how we got here, and why. Unfortunately this is yet another paver stone along the pathway to the defeat of Open Source by the very thing which owes its existence to it.
A melancholy day.
Exaviz mini NAS/NVR CM5 board - includes 8x PoE, 2.5 Gbps uplink from Pi. Fits in a 10" mini rack, with an enclosure (not final version) from DeskPi. Testing it next week!
Can a robot replace my parent-child interactions? It should be "utterly trivial"... but I found that not to be the case. The robot is still cool, though. Full video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yvBbcLCZIhg
Prepping for #Marchintosh...
@qgustavor haha I see that too, now
@mmu_man Oh. haha... now I see it. I think my brain was just not equating a bending thing like that with "pencil", since pencils, by their very nature, do not bend.
