Centuries of human innovation and inventions, and yet: the best tool to get whatever little cake batter is left in the bowl out, and into one's mouth, is still the index finger. Peak evolution! πŸ˜‹

Use Signal. We promise, no AI clutter, and no surveillance ads, whatever the rest of the industry does. <3

Forced Consent & Consent Bypass

Meta announced today that it also wants to introduce ads on WhatsApp, which will be based on personal data from Facebook and Instagram. This further integrates WhatsApp into other Meta services - an originally independent app, which initially was available for just $1 per year without ads or data usage. This also means that Meta is consolidating its social networking monopoly. EU law was actually supposed to prevent this."

@avanaut interesting that you associate the Blue Danube with this image! It's funny how we assign music to various emotions and memories.

That aside, I love the visual comparison of this bee to the docking of a space shuttle.

@just_sam completely agree on the color max and gold. I often opt for gold these days for any colour frames I'm taking. If you haven't shot PenF yet I would make a day for it. it's become my favorite b+w emulsion in the last few years.

More lilies from last month. I like how B&W highlights the texture of the petals.

@just_sam these two shots are excellent!
I have had a terrible time with the two rolls I used and decided to move on to a different emulsion myself.

I haven't quite wrapped my head around Ultramax. The results are very contrasty and saturated, and it either fits the scene perfectly or not at all. The greens tend to pop a little too much for my taste, but these two shots from the roll weren't too bad.

It's been a minute since I posted... Here's an overlooked image I've just found while looking back at photos from the Isle of Harris for an upcoming article about long-term projects.

#LandscapePhotography #uk #UnitedKingdom #scotland #ocean #nature #NaturePhotography

A winter scene from the Isle of Harris, Scotland. Golden light rakes across wind strewn marram grasses in the foreground while clouds float above the island of taransay off in the distance. Dark moody ocean lies between the two, dramatically contrasted by the ground covered head to toe in snow.

A false color infrared photo showing a wide open landscape. In the foreground is a pasture with tall grass. A solitary cottonwood tree stands on the pasture, offset to the left, leaving the view open to a lake below. In the far distance, a mountain range is dwarfed under a big sky with a few fluffy clouds in it.

@MattPalmer curious to dig your brain more then - what would be one of the thresholds that you think push a photograph from photograph into non-photograph territory.

"All That Is Ephemeral" β€” Solana Beach, California, May 2025.

The latest addition to my Tabletop Tide Pools portfolio, now spanning 14 years of photographs: alex-kunz.com/portfolio/tablet

#Seascape #SanDiego #LongExposure #Photography #WestCoast #SouthernCalifornia #Sunset

A long exposure seascape photo with coastal rocks in the foreground. The rocks form a small cove and in its center are two rock "islands", one very small and one bigger, with a flat top. The ocean is rendered very smooth with a long exposure time. The sky is mostly cloudy, but the sun peeks through an opening, casting warm light onto the ocean.

: This stunning photograph of comet C/2024 G3 (ATLAS), taken by Yuri Beletsky on 19 January from ESO's Paranal Observatory in Chile, looks almost like a watercolour painting. The comet is next to one of the Auxiliary Telescopes of ESO's Very Large Telescope Interferometer. Credit: Y. Beletsky (LCO)/ESO

A sunset sky with orange tones at the bottom and a starry night above. In the lower left, just above the horizon, is a comet whose massive tail stretches up to the upper right, arcing over a radio telescope at ESO's Paranal Observatory in Chile.

@rexbron haha glad I could make your degree have a use! πŸ˜‚

Another thoughtful response. I think your shift to mentioning the artistic claims is important, and maybe a better way to frame a future poll. In many ways the artist pre-defines those lines for the viewers by making a statement about their process or vision.

@geoff_eg

Yeah, I actually get to use some of my art degree!

Documentary is not necessarily strictly factual presentation. The act of framing integral to print based and screen based media is it itself inherently subjective.

Framing tells you what the photographer thought was interesting or worth, including and this is true of every form of photography .

So to dodge your question, I don’t really draw a line. It depends on the claims the author makes.
