The Trump administration is setting a new norm, that wearing masks while being an armed law enforcer is normal.

Criminals will take advantage of this. It is nothing new that hardcore criminals disguise as police, but what is new is, this disguise can now be worn while being masked, and it will not look out of the ordinary.

Criminals will be able to abduct anybody anywhere while wearing police gear, guns, AND masks, and no one will be able to know if they are real or fake.

As a kid my mom told me one of the rights we have in the USA is to travel freely throughout the country. She said in communist countries the government tracks all your movements.

Fast forward to the 2000s and TSA starts verifying that the name on your ID matches your plane ticket - what else they are doings, we don't know.

Fast forward to 2025, the TSA don't care about your ticket. They photograph EVERYONE getting on an airplane. They are watching you everywhere you go.

I think you are right about the targets being more hardened now. Organizations that know they are hactivist targets have invested in countermeasures. A successful attack would likely need to be more sophisticated.

Over to last 15 years world governments (including the U.S.) quietly tracked down and eliminated many members if groups like Anonymous. They are a shell of what they once were. Some were co-opted or coersed into doing work for government. I think the most powerful hacking groups are now run by the fascists.
