@ariel I’m confused : built with React?
Color buddy is a research project (from me, Maureen Stone, and Jeffrey Heer) that explores the idea of property checking (or linting) in GUI tools. All of our checks are end user editable/tuneable. Generally we find that this kind of linting and GUIs smoosh well together!!
We’re eager for you to try it! https://color-buddy.netlify.app/
Let us know what you think (such as via issues on github, or sending me an email).
(caveat emptor: its an academic research project, so there are likely bugs haha 😅)
@mcnutt Really cool! Just watched the recording of your presentation. Really cool to see so much direct manipulation in there! Bret Victor would be proud of you :D
The idea of a design linter gave me a throwback to an article I wrote in 2016: https://medium.com/@getflourish/designing-with-intent-be6664b10ac
Really looking forward to read more about your work!

Zuck said Meta is in a "partnership" with White House; Google is following suit. They are all that stand between you and Trump admin data grabs.
Law enforcement requests for user data from Apple, Google, and Meta mean Big tech can decide whether US authorities have access to your personal info, like location data.
Meanwhile, Europeans are starting to see US data services as “no longer safe”
Here's a resource collection of non-US services, and more:
@cfiggers welcome!
🌈 A gem for all color lovers is coming soon https://rybitten.space/ via @meodai
@xeophin I mean, it’s just weird. Maybe that’s the goal.
@xeophin The issue is that there is no straight design for neutral / non-typograhic quotation marks. Which IMO is wrong.
@xeophin thought about it but no. I figured it’s an issue of the font 🤯
Holy shit it‘s the font itself (Space Grotesk)
I have neutral quotation marks in HTML that get rendered as smart quotes in one page and as is in another. Wtf? What CSS or HTML attribute influences how "" are displayed? They are inside spans inside tables.
@superpixel Good point. Should rewatch!
What’s a good method to conserve smell from objects?
the hands-on tutorials for data visualization are now also available in German – many thanks to Nadine Geffers!

@spiralganglion That was inspiring. 😊 A decade ago I was frustrated with dead and mundane design tool interfaces. Looking back to hundreds of prototypes, the very first one of a constrained font size chooser is still one of my favorites as it did have a feeling of constrained playfulness. You can express intent (veeery large text) but the system will gently correct you. https://florianschulz.info/portfolio/writing/designing-with-intent
@nonelvis I think you now can, no? That‘s a new feature, no?
I never looked forward to work with assholes and it‘s shocking to see that others do. I guess only assholes look forward to work with other assholes, is it? Assholes appear to be the natural fitting interface for all those dirty coins to go in. 🇺🇸🪙💰
