✏️ Mark your calendars! In just two weeks, I’ll be offering a free Krita workshop (in French) at Capitole du Libre 2024. This session will be a perfect blend of exploring Krita’s features and sharing valuable drawing tips. I can’t wait to see you there and create together! 🎨 :krita:

More info: cfp.capitoledulibre.org/cdl-20

A screenshot of Krita with a black and white penciled-like drawing of Pepper&Carrot. Pepper, a young witch, rolls her eyes at the ceiling as she reflects on her life: she has turned her cauldron upside down once again. This one was obviously too big for her. Carrot, her cat, is curious about the liquid on the floor.
On the top of the screenshot, information about the time/place of the workshop in French (detailed in the link). In short: 17 November, from 10:30am to 12:25 in France, Toulouse at "Capitole du Libre" festival.

@tusooa Heh, you're trying to convince a "Russian identified person" in one of the senior positions in the Linux Foundation that the Linux Foundation is being unfair towards "Russian identified people." It's pretty hilarious.

I'm not a lawyer and I don't speak for the LF, so I won't give you any kind of "official comment." But here's my view of it.

The people removed from maintainer positions were identified as employed by companies on the US and EU sanctions list. These companies are directly involved in the Russian military complex and therefore are directly complicit in war crimes being committed daily in Ukraine. If these maintainers want to think that they are "just techies helping improve the Linux kernel," or that "they are outside of politics," then they are fucking wrong. If they work for companies that develop weaponry or logistics used by the Russian military, they are complicit in Russia's war crimes, and I hold them responsible at a very personal level -- and that's my official comment on the situation.

I’m going to say something here that might surprise you… are you ready?

Fossil fuel CEOs and the craven politicians who enable them are not always honest.
________________________________

Exported gas emits far more greenhouse gas emissions than coal, despite fossil-fuel industry claims that it is a cleaner alternative, according to a major new research paper challenging the controversial yet rapid expansion of gas exports from the US to Europe and Asia.

The research, which has become enmeshed in a political argument in the US, has concluded that liquefied natural gas (LNG) is 33% worse in terms of planet-heating emissions over a 20-year period compared with coal.

“The idea that coal is worse for the climate is mistaken – LNG has a larger greenhouse gas footprint than any other fuel,” said Robert Howarth, an environmental scientist at Cornell University and author of the new paper.

“To think we should be shipping around this gas as a climate solution is just plain wrong. It’s greenwashing from oil and gas companies that has severely underestimated the emissions from this type of energy.”

Drilling, moving, cooling, and shipping gas from one country to another uses so much energy that the actual final burning of gas in people’s homes and businesses only accounts for about a third of the total emissions from this process, the research finds.

The large resulting emissions mean that “ending the use of LNG should be a global priority.”
