@rikdekker @TechCrunch I don’t know about in America, but we seem to have quite a few Tesla superchargers here in Australia, and my understanding is that they are FAST… So I don’t know why you would avoid one of the EV manufacturers with one of the largest charging networks. To do so just makes no sense.

@arstechnica Absolutely won’t happen… As a current #Nissan #Leaf owner, I’d be curious to see what would happen if #Tesla did buy Nissan; but it would make very little sense for them to do so.

If Nissan was unable to find a buyer and went out of business, well Tesla is one of many companies that would directly benefit from such a demise; so it would make more sense for Tesla to reject any such proposal outright.

In saying that, this is just wishful thinking by #politicians , anyway.

@TechCrunch Sadly, this article implies it’s only for embedded CarPlay in new cars (i.e. the version that comes with a car’s built-in head unit); there’s no indication that it will be made available to third-party head units or otherwise made available to exisiting CarPlay head units.

Which is a shame, because CarPlay is buggy as Hell, and long overdue for an upgrade.
