@c_reider a little quick math tells me I turned 11 in 1970 and 21 in 1980, so I guess that was my teenage era. Atime of AMC Gremlins, massive synths that easily fell out of tune, and a movement on one shore to insist on 3 chords as an alternative to what went before and a movement on two shores to just dance.

@c_reider I heard a combo do a convincing instrumental Blood, Sweat & Tears and its charm was that it had a vaguely 70s sound. But travel to that era is a tough time machine ride.

@c_reider At the same time, though I see the recording industry and tech industry flaws in the streaming arrangements, I do not share some of the current nostalgia for a pre-streaming recording industry era in which manipulated chokeholds on distribution and the prohibitive cost of recording created barriers to DIY. That era was not better. I don't (yet) stream but I don't long for Payola LP Record-Company Advance-Nation, either. #musicindustry

@c_reider I have a stray song or three on Spotify, I think, usually because a collaboration with someone resulted in a posting. But streaming services have never been my goal. I thought about recording an album or two without a CC license to post on streaming services. That way those who prefer streaming could find my songs. I may yet. But it seems to me that my musical DNA is all about sharing and liberal licenses and post-recording-industry DIY, a streaming-free netlabel Bandcamp way.
