@star-ptr.bsky.social It actually works pretty well, just figuring out the right configuration was tedious.

But, the guide in nixpkgs is updated now!

I resolved the issue by getting a shell in the container, running `bbctl --config /tmp/bbctl.json logout`, issuing myself a new Matrix token and starting the container over using the new token.

Note: I run my bridges in containers in my Kubernetes cluster, here's the definition: github.com/heywoodlh/flakes/bl

In case anyone else runs into this issue I had with my Beeper self hosted bridge, some error snippets from the log:

```
WRN Failed to update bridge state error="websocket not connected"
ERR Error in appservice websocket error="failed to get reader: previous message not read to completion" action="appservice websocket"
INF Websocket disconnected, reconnecting... action="appservice websocket" backoff_seconds=8
```

Caused my self-hosted Signal bridge to loop continuously.

Say hello to AnduinOS, a custom Ubuntu-based free Linux distro. Designed for a familiar and easy transition (but no previous Linux experience needed), it offers a simple and private computing experience. And best part? No telemetry. No tracking. Regain your privacy today, it's that simple.

In my free time I’ve been helping run some Arma Reforger servers. I recently took the time to codify the entire deployments, implementing a form of Infrastructure as Code/GitOps powered by ansible-pull and GitHub Actions.

Check it out here! github.com/Red-Dawn-Network/an

(Also check out the Red Dawn server on Arma Reforger — it’s an awesome chillsim server)

@fae that’s great!

I find myself progressing further into Kubernetes being my preferred server platform, with NixOS and Nix-Darwin (MacOS) my preferred workstation environments — and Nix being my preferred package manager for everything.

@fae the game is called “Downtime Simulator: Because I’m Constantly Codifying Everything” 🙂‍↕️

(jk, on a real note, my NixOS machines — which my main server also runs many of my services with k3s/kubernetes — rarely goes down!)

I want your criticism. 👀

If there is one thing Linux users have, it is an opinion. I have been working on a NixOS configuration that is meant to be new user-friendly, without being overwhelming, and if possible ADHD-friendly too. Ideally, I think it is screen reader friendly as well. The goal was to be inclusive.

On that note, I wanted a configuration that would work for "most" people. Meaning, I use this, and I'm done.

For my own records, pressing shift+F10 then issuing: start ms-cxh:localonly

Will start the dialog to create an offline Windows 11 account during install. OOBE\BYPASSNRO doesn’t seem to work anymore as promised by MS.

@codemonkeymike Nixbook looks fantastic, I love the aesthetic. Will likely be exploring more in the future.

Just want to verify, this is the corresponding repository?

github.com/mkellyxp/nixbook

Would be super nice to generate an installer ISO instead of having to use NixOS’ installer. IIRC nixos-generators makes this easier to do: github.com/nix-community/nixos

Regardless, well done, very nice project 👏

Ok, I've set up a short video series showing how to take a #windows computer and convert it to a Nixbook (my project based on #NixOS )

It's aimed at people who aren't even linux pros and should be pretty easy to follow. Thats my hope!

@heywoodlh @farcaller I hope I'm not overstepping but you might also be interested in nixidy which takes a different approach of using nix with ArgoCD. Instead of using a config management plugin to render manifests with nix, I use CI to render them and commit them back to my repo for ArgoCd to pick up.

Full disclosure: the project is mine but I build on some of farcaller's work.

@farcaller Perfect, thanks for the explanation! Will probably go the most simple route of a file structure dedicated to ArgoCD for my flakes.

Will likely submit a PR for things that I think could be more clear for a noob. 😄
