Here are some more photos I took at Fort McKavett State Historic Site in western Texas, before and after the total solar eclipse of 14Oct2023.

My initial post. I am a retired physician, and am now a semi-professional photographer. I joined Mastodon primarily to have a place to post my best photos for others to enjoy. Please note that my photos are copyrighted, so please do not download or copy for your own use without asking my permission! Here are some composite photos I made from my 2000 solar eclipse photos that I took on 14Oct2023. I hope somebody eventually looks at them. I'll be posting more photos over time.

This is a composite of 10 separate photos I took as the 14Oct2023 solar eclipse neared totality and for a few minutes afterward. This is a composite of more than 40 separate photos that I took during the 14Oct2023 solar eclipse, using one Canon camera with a telephoto lens. I had moved the camera to follow the sun, but without a tracker to keep it in the same position. When I combined the photos without cropping them, this was the result. I moved the collection in the lower right corner upward, to be able to crop the photo. This is a composite photo of some photos I took of the solar eclipse of 14Oct2023. I drove 3 hours to Fort McKavett State Historic Park in western Texas, because it was in the path of totality and had a number of old buildings and ruins that I could use as a foreground. I took a base photo of the ruined fort commander's quarters, then took the sequence of eclipse shots without moving the camera. This is the actual arc of the sun and moon as they danced over the building. This is a false-color rendition I made from one of the other composite photos. My goal was to create a sort of rainbow effect.
