@scudderfish lol. Let's see what others come up with, at 1st sight from orbit it could be your SDA who gave its life
@scudderfish backup, tell me you have backup
@geniodiabolico If your zigbee gateways work with all your zigbee devices, probably no difference. If your matter devices are matter/zigbee and have more features over zigbee, probably zigbee is better for you. Matter is mostly better for cases where neither of these is true. Matter doesn’t use a proprietary network stack. That’s it. That’s the win.
Some stuff I've recently automated with #HomeAssistant, a thread:
Windows 11's hardware requirements sent millions of perfectly functional CPUs to the landfill. Linux extended their lifespan by a decade. From an e-waste perspective alone, installing a lightweight distro is an act of environmental conservation.

Huge Victory: #ChatControl no longer forces us to break #encryption. 🎉
🚨But: It now wants #AgeVerification.
The Trilogue starts today 🗓️

@distrowatch @PogoHandshake @nixCraft yes, everyone knows the earth is flat.
Please don't count me in for a factless discussion based on feelings and vibes.
@PogoHandshake @nixCraft then I'm afraid you are suffering from an episode of confirmation bias.
Have a nice day
@PogoHandshake @nixCraft plus their choice of Google devices is well explained, and they seem to be working on another hardware provider as of recently
@PogoHandshake @nixCraft and if you look further into their mastodon account and posts history you will see more information behind their decisions and approach.
The fact is: no other distro gets this close to regular patching without delays and to per app permissions control, let alone the memory protection going on behind the curtains
@PogoHandshake @nixCraft when you say 'without any reflection' you seem horribly misinformed: if there is ONE thing these guys do is think about things.
I leave this here should you wish to inform yourself https://grapheneos.org/faq
@nixCraft @morethanevil it was even part of your ansible config file
It is an old story: When tech companies store too much user data, law enforcement will eventually seek it out. AI companies must commit to pushing back. https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2025/12/ai-chatbot-companies-should-protect-your-conversations-bulk-surveillance
SSH brute force login attempts 🤣 It is time to hide your ssh port behind a vpn? I say, disable password based login and only use the 2FA protected ssh keys based login and ensure TCP/port 22 is rate limited.
I've more tips for you. Read: OpenSSH Server Best Security Practices https://www.cyberciti.biz/tips/linux-unix-bsd-openssh-server-best-practices.html if you want to protect yourself from such attacks.
I'm thinking of getting a salaried job after years of freelancing. (The stress and overhead isn't worth it with a toddler, I'd rather have it calm.)
If you know someone who needs a #Swiftlang dev with 10+ years of experience, macOS and iOS, also some C and #Rust, who can self-manage and also manage-manage and act as product owner etc. (I'm also an indie with the full spectrum of experience), do share!
Thanks 🙏
