@Arxosnox They didn't say.

@player_03 Yes, on their discord. I'm not sure how it'll be announced otherwise.

I've been neglecting this account a bit, so:
Since peoplemaking.games is going to shut down, I'll migrate my account.
Most likely to gamedev.place.
So don't be alarmed if you follow me and notice a change.

Sharing because this teenage Bronze Age sheep-ankle-bone gaming champion girl deserves to be known.

#SheepAnkleBoneGamingGirl

A September 10, 2023 thread (probably in tumblr? I'm not familiar enough to say for sure), by AnarchyWoofWoof, that reads, "god forbid 5000 year old girls do anything".

The post shows a screenshot of a Bluesky post by Giraud@giraud.bsky.social, which has a preview from a news article that reads: "Archaeologists have unearthed a Bronze Age grave of a teen girl in Kazakhistan, strangely containing 180 sheep ankle bones." Giraud's post reads: "She's just doing normal girl stuff, mind your business. No one's saying shit about your fucking pog collection."

flamei7's reply reads, "y'all don't understand; ankle bones were the first dice. This girl was a gamer the likes of which we may never see again."

PostPoeticParadox's reply reads: "Ok so here's a bit of a story: my mom lived in Kazakhistan as a child, and kids there still play with sheep bones. One of the games involved the winner taking the losing player's sheep bones, and if the rules were similar enough and remained throughout the years, this girl was not only just a gamer, but like, tournament level good at sheep bone games.

AnarchyWoofWoof's reply reads: Holy shit, Bronze Age pro sheep bone gamer girl

Roach-Works reply reads: This is hilarious, but also I'm gonna cry: like this teenage gamer died and they buried her *with her high score*. No one took back the pot or divided it up, because no one would play against her again. Her family and friends buried her with her wins. I'm crying.

Listen: I feel unreasonably smug about myself today, because I finally bought a license for *Total Commander*.

If you don't know Total Commander, it's a panel file manager in the lineage of Norton Commander and Volkov Commander. It's shareware and it's been on my PCs, unregistered, for years and years.

There's this one guy in Switzerland who's still updating it and selling it. There's basically no reason to buy — except maybe a little bit of shame.

Anyway, that is all. Have a good day.

An old school page saying that I've bought Total Commander

Hey folks! I'm currently going through a rough period.

As of right now, 26 incredible people are helping to keep People Making Games running. It doesn't quite cover our costs but it helps a lot! If you're able to chip in a dollar or two, it'll help keep the lights on for a long time to come! patreon.com/peoplemakinggames

Also I know we have some issues to take care of, and I'll be working on them over the coming months!

Thank you all for being a part of this cozy little community!

British citizen Becky Burke was stopped at the Canadian border while crossing for a backpacking trip. She’s being held in Tacoma WA.

Two German tourists in unrelated cases—Jessica Brösche and Lucas Sielaff—have both been held in San Diego for over a month now, with Brösche in solitary for some of that time.

By being held, I mean in ICE detention aka jail.

history fun fact: The word "shareware" actually derives from "charivari", as developers would visit the houses of people who did not pay the registration fee and shame them in front of their community

Randomly remembered a favourite fact about the Hobbit movies - yes, despite being what they are, there's a bunch of stuff they did I love.
In an attempt to flesh out the dwarves into fuller characters, they made Óin a medic. As in - where the word "ointment" comes from.
And it's like a silly little pun, right, but also not a thing Tolkien himself was above.
(see the origin of golf from the slaying of Golfimbul)
(also I quote his "He says he's an experrrrt!", in that exact pronunciation quite often.)

How rich people avoid paying tax

(Originally by Instgram user @newmoney.blog)

This image appears to be a satirical illustration about how wealthy individuals can minimize their tax burden. It depicts a scenario where a CEO receives $1 million in salary and has $1 million worth of company stock. The illustration shows the CEO borrowing money against the value of their stock, spending the borrowed money as if it were income, and then claiming they have no income for tax purposes. The text suggests this strategy allows the CEO to pay significantly less in taxes.

Two more monster renders for Kromlech - Undead Sentinel and Undead King!
For the king we went with a more Mycenaean looking bronze panoply, though his crown is very "swords and sorcery".
