Wishing an abundant, meaningful day to all, whether celebrating or not. We've unfortunately tied this holiday to awful parts of our history, but the message of gratitude is a lovely one.
Oaklander who likes to keep it local! Black Lives Matter. Accountable government is good government. Good government values every human being. Strong, supportive communities is where the good life takes root.
Oh. And I clearly need to up my kickball game. 😄
Pronouns: She, Her, Hers
Religion: I can't go for that!
Favorite form of government: Representative Democracy
One thing I don't like: When people try to recall elected officials for doing exactly what the candidate promised!

Thousands, maybe millions of Jews are against the actions of the Israeli settlers and government. This is *not* a religious issue. It’s a socio-political issue and we must understand the difference!
Fun connections.
"Stereotype" is a printer's term. Moveable type is expensive. You don't want to keep it tied up longer than needed, so you make a mould from the set type and cast a plate from that.
The "stereotype" is the mould.
A "cliché" is what the French called plate made from that mould, it's onomatopoeia from the sound of removing the plate from the mould.
"Boilerplate" is widely repeated text from the round stereotype castings of newspaper columns ready to throw on a drum press.

The BBC's experiment with Mastodon is pathbreaking in English-language news -- a major organization setting up its own instance. They've really thought this through. Key language:
"We're using social.bbc as the domain, so you can be sure these accounts are genuinely from the BBC. And by linking to and from the BBC’s website, we have verified our identity on Mastodon."

Workers don't have to strike for fair pay if they own the company.
@devxvda @actuallyautistic I don't know how rude that would be. It's certainly not a question I'd ask nor want asked of me.
Masking is my choice, my protection. Far too often people (autistic or not, male or female, anyone, any subset of humanity) have been told by someone "Hey! you don't need to be defensive around me. Let down your guard! I'm ok!" only to either be hurt intentionally or unintentionally by that same person.
Masking is my shield. I deploy it when I feel I must and I, and I alone, decide when I feel safe enough to do without it.
I wouldn't say it's "Rude" but it is perhaps asking for more trust than the person is willing to give. It's overstepping a boundary. Goes without saying, IMHO of course.
In #Hungary an anti-Russian protest took place in front of the Russian embassy.
While you were robbed blind at the pump this year (and GOP blamed Biden), Exxon made $55,700,000,000 in profits.
Over $1 billion per week.

Tell it to the school children. They're still listening.
The thing is, punctuation and capitalization evolved as tools to reduce ambiguity. If you want to be clear, use the tools our ancestors left us. They are mighty fine tools.
