@dsalo I'm not really sure that you've been following EFF's work. If you could specifically point to something that involves us laundering support for them in some way, I'd appreciate that. @skiant Hi Alex. Over the last two decades, EFF has had considerable success in improving Meta's policies, alongside other groups we've worked in coalition with. It is extremely fucked that Meta is doing what it is doing, but I don't think EFF should be ashamed of itself for reviewing Meta's announcement, writing a nuanced response, and then writing an additional statement covering new information. I think your target might be misplaced here.

@katzenberger Not trying to change your mind, but I would really like to emphasize that this was not a case where EFF read the policies, said they were good, then backpedaled. This is a case where EFF read the announcement, was asked to comment by several outlets, published their statement, and by the time that happened a separate update had come to light which the initial statement was NOT about and which EFF said was very bad.
