So I hear Frump wants to be "anti-bias" for Christians. OK, so be it. We're ALL about anti-bias about EVERYTHING!

! DEI is "Anti-Bias"!

Make them play by their own rules!

@indivisibleteam Just signed up to the formstack, but noted that the websites for a lot of the local groups listed on the .org site are defunct. I'm willing to clean that up and support reengaging Delco, PA. Upper Darby and Havertown are not all of Delco. Tx.

@blatinodragon You are completely correct. I do not accept all the BS on social media, either. And I tend to use "oscillating about" the truth, rather than "asymptotic to". This allows for that occasionally correct response, even if accidental. From this follows my "little bits" and "continual debate" comments at the start of our discussion.

@blatinodragon I am, at my core, a determinist, but I cannot, and may never, find or understand the exact linkage between events and behaviors. Nevertheless, to function we must work from certain probabilistic models that are, as you say, asymptotic to the eventual hard truths. Hence, "we hold these truths", not "we know these truths". I'm a scientist, and I'm okay with this (faith) for now because I have to eat and survive in a world that doesn't give much thought to this technical discussion.

@blatinodragon By such hard logic you don't exist either, so nah nah na nah nah. Social media is fine without you, too.

@blatinodragon I don't ascribe to or promote any theological support for the truths or rights enumerated in either the Constitution or DoI. That they are referred to that way does not make them untrue or unfounded.

@blatinodragon Democratic ideology must, by nature, be a bit socialist, a bit capitalist, a bit authoritarian, and a bit anarchist, because it must continuously debate the subject of proper governance. But it must hold certain enumerated truths as its North star and stabilizing force.

@n1xnx Hi - as a librarian, I want everyone to read books in whatever format they prefer! But it's true that these terms are ridiculous. What we really need is legislation calling for fair e-book pricing and publishing practices.

This is a good campaign website:

So, something I heard recently on my local NPR station on borrowing ebooks vs. hardcover from your local library:
Apparently, the library pays ~$15 for a hardcover book, but ~$150 for the ebook - and the ebook is a LIMITED LICENSE for, say, 52 loans of that book. After which they have to pay ANOTHER $150 for the book, AGAIN.

The takeaway here: If you can get the hardcopy from the library instead of borrowing an ebook, please do so. The impact on their budget will be SIGNIFICANT.

@rbreich With the news out that Michael Bloomberg spend $20M this year, alone, we need to be careful. You're right that money in politics is bad, but it's all bad, not just "their" money. !

@jensorensen Small bit of data. Elon Musk's recent $45 billion settlement is roughly five times the budget of the US federal government for education.

@jensorensen Billionaires do fund HI. They're just called governments. What you might say is that unregulated billionaires should be funding education or be rationally taxed out of existence.

@GeriatricGardener@kolektiva.social @HeavenlyPossum @substack You will certainly get no argument from me that systems everywhere are wrong, even violently so, but I won't advocate violence. There are other options.

@HeavenlyPossum @GeriatricGardener@kolektiva.social @substack Economics matter. This is a self-correcting situation, but should have been started much sooner. Lack of intelligent leadership brought this on. There are short term issues to resolve, but long term, the solution is economic.
