And while I'm ranting, let me just give a quick shout-out to the gobblins in IBM® Red Hat® Open Source™ projects that respond to bug fix requests with "We don't consider this broken behavior a priority. If you feel differently, please open a Red Hat Support Case using your Enterprise Support Contract account." Get bent.
For example, on macOS with Podman and the Podman Compose extension enabled, wrapping `docker-compose` (and ONLY with this combination) external local named container volumes don't work (a name-prefix bug breaks the compose project). It's necessary in this environment only to use `PODMAN_COMPOSE_PROVIDER` to override the provider with a very special Python project, `podman-compose`. Hilariously, this project is not supported on Microsoft® Windows®, but the project managers are too cowardly to state this fact explicitly -- it's hidden in the GitHub Issues. All these special little failures and workarounds makes writing guidance for the entire audience a real challenge.
I’m continuing to pour time into The Best Ansible Preso Ever and I’m amazed at the amount of developer friction when attempting to support all combinations of Windows/macOS/Linux and Podman/Docker/Compose. I’ve used Task to abstract some of the nonsense, but boy howdy.
I felt that Microsoft Copilot, formerly known as Office, could use a mascot. So I asked Copilot to design something in the spirit of Clippy.
Let me introduce you to Sloppy, a cheerful slightly gooey assistant with glasses and a headset.

@tomjennings @ai6yr It’s quite easy for a malicious actor to write a regex that strips the plus-address suffix. I don’t like to make it that easy on them. I’ve configured my Postfix servers to support plus-addresses, but I don’t expose legitimate mailbox names willy nilly.
@ai6yr I had more than 650 entries in my LDAP server last time I looked. All aliases for my one actual mailbox.
@ai6yr Related advice I give to anybody who will listen: create a unique email address for each vendor with whom you do business, preferably using a syntax that allows for data leak detection and a random token, such as `pornhub-rksufi837@domain.tld`. This allows easy rejection of junk when the vendor inevitably loses control of their database.
Try not to be jealous, but Milana Vayntrub follows me on TikTok, and not just once, but with twelve of her very legitimate accounts.
@danielbowen I’ve gotten those automated comments on posts before. I assume the bot operators believe that when somebody direct messages one of the bot accounts it makes it seem legitimate to Instagram. And presumably they will thank the person for interacting and share an amazing cryptocurrency opportunity.

I had a pair of ultra-baggy, acid-washed cargo jeans shorts in ‘94. I don’t know where they went. I’ll never be as comfortable and fashionable again. #regrets
@carstenfranke Apparently so.
Sure, my database scripts sometimes have typos. And sometimes my deployments have a missing environment variable. But at least I know how to create a PDF without leaking content.
it's a travesty that this isn't codeberg's logo or mascot
I stumbled upon this while looking for lava sculptures. It’s like the universe something something. #abide
