**apologies in advance** is there an #analogue #photographer using #nikonsupercoolscan9000 negative scanner out there and managing to hook it up to their Mac? #firewire #firewire400 #firewire800 #usb-c #thunderbolt
If so - how you doin'?
I'm a photographer and a teacher. I also run RadioDADA.online for my classes.
Views my own (but you can borrow CC-BY).

A gentle request to help others- before zealously sharing pay/subscription walled article links. e.g. from Wired, WaPo, NYT, heck the Chronicle of higher ed, take maybe an extra 30 seconds in your browser to stick https://archive.ph/ in front of the link to find/generate a direct read link.
A bonus for readers? We actually get to read an article. Double bonus? its free of pop ups.

Congratulations, capitalism, you’re doing amazing, sweetie.

"In the wake of the pandemic, schools in the European Union have increasingly begun to implement digital services for online learning. While these modernisation efforts are a welcome development, a small number of big tech companies immediately tried to dominate the space – often with the intention of getting children used to their systems and creating a new generation of future “loyal” customers. One of them is Microsoft, whose 365 Education services violate children’s data protection rights. When pupils wanted to exercise their GDPR rights, Microsoft said schools were the “controller” for their data. However, the schools have no control over the systems."

@cogdog would be great to have that how2 for morons like me who don’t know what UTM parameters are. [hangs head]
Be URL smart. Any @techcrunch link you boost/share on the fediverse carries the tracker utm_source=threads that reports your action and data back to the Zuckerborg machine, plus credits Threads.
Do yourself and everyone else a favor #DisruptDataSurveillance in the simple act of stripping of all utm parameters in any link you share.
Break the trackers. It’s easy.
Sean, I don't know who you are or why you're giving my number out instead of your own. But I've started saying I am you and agreeing to whatever the people calling want, and it's not going to end well. Also pay your debts off.
Today, we have fined Apple and Meta for breaching the Digital Markets Act.
Apple restricts developers from informing customers about offers outside the App Store, while Meta doesn’t give consumers the choice of a service that uses less of their personal data.

@cogdog I’m really enjoying https://pixelfed.social/Fotos.photos and my friend Martin who posts everyday scenes from Sydney, Oz https://pixelfed.social/renlokai
Looking for recommended accounts to follow in pixelfed.
The public feed does not yield much, though I find people who post photos of just coffee cups, or just wristwatches, or just robins or just their sad chihuahua (no offense to anyone's passion subject, just seeking a varied mix). Not looking for professional landscapers or serious faced model poses, either, just a regular and mixed flow of scenes from the world.

I just donated £10 to Wikipedia instead of sending Elon and Donald Christmas cards.
Wikipedia is a problem for Musk/Trump. Not, as Musk says, because it's "woke." Because it's one of our last reliable tethers to a consensus reality. Therefore, an antidote to disinformation.
It's not making anyone money. It's not enshittified. Of course it's not perfect—it's an endeavor of imperfect cooperating humans. But it needs protection and support.
