People tell me that GNU/Linux is too ugly these days, that all computers are ugly garbage, and that you might as well give up and use Windows or macOS.
I'll just stay where I am on Fedora. I see no reason to change. I have all my needs met, without ads.
#Windows11 just keeps getting worse and worse.
#Microsoft removes even more Microsoft account workarounds from #Windows11 build
@SethStorm666 I look forward to it!

Woah... I should install this. Nice work!
Don’t fall for #microsoft extending #windows 10 support in the EU. Kicking the can down the road doesn’t change anything.
They want you to throw away working hardware, pay to upgrade, and accept intrusive new advertising, AI and privacy violations on your desktop. It will cause the biggest pile of e-waste ever and increase the environmental impact of AI data centres.
Time to get out of the abusive relationship, permanently: https://endof10.org
I've never heard if Delta Chat before... Is it any better than Element (Matrix) or Signal?

As I keep highlighting, activism isn’t separate from tech development, with the #FOSS traditions coming from tech activism already. Activism for tech development and #FOSS paths hamishcampbell.com/activism-mat...
Activism for tech development ...
This is really cool! Thanks for sharing!
Oooh this is cool. Any chance you could share the process behind something like this?
Oldest kid left her laptop at work and needed to do study tonight, and asked if I have a spare computer. She is now happily working on her assignment on the iMac that I Linuxed last month, and was immediately impressed at how much faster it runs than when it was on MacOS. #linux #LinuxMint #xfce
Is this the first significant ethical truly open-source AI model.... or just good marketing?
- 70B parameter open weights.
- 15T training tokens.
- Technical report containing exactly how they trained it and what data they used - truly open source and build-able (?).
- Multi-lingual.
- Post-trained for safety = Useful, harmless, honest.
- Respects author rights and filtered for private information (?)
I remember being concerned about how small the storage limit is for free accounts when I first swapped to #CryptPad. But a whole year and many documents later, I still haven't needed to upgrade.
I might do so just to support them. I love Cryptpad and #LibreOffice so much that it hurts. 😭
Someone just turned me on to #CryptPad. I'm looking forward to trying it out to replace ggl drive & forms for collaborating.
Join me in resisting #technofascism ! Including AI harvesting our work.
I've also been using #LibreOffice for several weeks & no issues yet.
Worse even, there are developments re: #cheating which involve using "#AI" to merely #aimbot / a player into making hits, including stochastic delays and inaccuracy to hide it.
This doesn't even account for the fact that #Linux isn't a good platform to do these #malware-style #Kernelhack|s but also that trying to do #ClientSide #Anticheat isn't worth the hassle.
The whole #CSGO / #CS2 "#Overwatch" basically amounts to #training (alongside with the existing footage of "known good" and "known bad" examples) of those "AI" efforts!
This is also why #Ranking is enforced in #Competitive #Multiplayer of #CounterStrike2 and why Valve yeeted "#smurf"-accounts because #smurfing taints their dataset.
