Currently accompanying my daughter at a metal concert. One of the members of the opening band came out onto the stage, and as one all the Gen. X parents sitting off to the side stopped chatting and got out our earplugs.

@theJMR Such a hateful place! Mastodon has been such a breath of fresh air.
Absolutely delightful. Bathrooms in convention centers, arenas, theaters, and other public places NEED to be more flexible to take into account the variable audience on any given day.

@cautionarytale So much to be proud of! I’m in Utah and full of equal parts envy and admiration. Thank you for showing what can be done!
@xdydx Thank you!!
@patrickleary P.S. I know precisely nothing about Pritzker beyond this, but I love what he (pronoun the article used) seems to stand for. Any chance of a presidential bid in the future?
@patrickleary Thanks! I just noticed and changed it ASAP! I had hoped it would go through in time. It should be corrected now. *facepalm*
Exciting news: Illinois bans...book bans. https://bookriot.com/illinois-has-officially-banned-book-bans/
Gov. Pritzker: "Young people shouldn’t be kept from learning about the realities of our world; I want them to become critical thinkers, exposed to ideas that they disagree with, proud of what our nation has overcome, and thoughtful about what comes next. Everyone deserves to see themselves reflected in the books they read, the art they see, the history they learn."
This is what leadership looks like.
I think a genie should grant the wish of every "Return to Tradition" guy posting on the internet, and they should all awake tomorrow in the time-period of their choice, in the nation or city they romanticize most from the past.

Decided to take today off writing, as it’s my birthday. So at 12:01 a.m. my brain jolted alive with a shiny new book idea, and I spent the entire first hour of my birthday…writing. Thanks, brain. Knew I could count on you for support.
This #birb is producing some really amazing sounds! :nkoSip:
@Lironah The best kind by far!!!
In a beautiful twist of poetic justice, the Bible is now banned in a number of Utah schools.

I’m against book-banning in general, but logic has failed, so it seems they’re fighting fire with fire — and doing it well.
Hello, lovelies! It has been a WHILE. Sorry to drop off the face of the world, or at least the World Wide Web. (Does anyone still call it that ? I think my GenX is showing.) I was sick, then catching up on life, then, well, holiday weekend + end of school year. BUT I’m here now, and I’ve missed you! What have you been up to? How ARE you???
As for me, I’m back to sunset-watching with hubby, as this photo shows. Yay!

She also warned her not to gossip too much, because then no one will trust her; how to know when someone is manipulating her and why it's not a good thing for people to do; and why it's not good for her mental health to spend too much time on Tik-Tok. Maybe she really has been paying attention all these years!
Overheard my 13y.o. giving her younger cousin life advice this weekend. My favorite bit? "Make sure your friends support other girls. You know, like, when you ask them for a tampon, they'll immediately give you one. Not like the kind of friend who will wrinkle her nose and say, "Eww. You said 'tampon.' TMI."
@norcalgrandma Wow! Gorgeous!
Well, it certainly dragged its heels this year, but spring is finally here!
