Luddites were people who were very skilled with machines but disagreed that those machines were used to lower working conditions under which they and their offspring would have to work.
This insightful comic shows how AI and regulations are now placing workers in the same situation.
It shows how more and more people say:
I AM A LUDDITE
"I am good with new technology and I want it to be used to benefit individual people."

Computers are like onions. Everything is layers built on layers, and every layer makes you cry. #sysadmin
@Maker_of_Things@strangeobject.space That's even better than this...
Annoyed that a website is doing something custom on right-click?
Did you expect the browser's context menu (Back, Reload, Save Page As, View Source etc.)?
Just hold the ⇧Shift key while clicking and Firefox will show the built-in context menu.
Edit: I had no idea this was such a widely appreciated post. Credit where credit is due: @dveditz told me about this trick a couple of months ago.
@ukscone@fosstodon.org We have a small number of mugs that the resident tea-drinker is forbidden from contaminating with horrid brown residue. Also: cutlery.

@jmb@mastodon.me.uk This thread is a couple of years old now, but might be informative: https://yacf.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=107848.0
One thing that's worth noting is that hot air is often the least painful way to de-solder a multi-pin connector from a board with plated through-holes (as most industrially-produced boards are these days), so it's not just about SMD reflow and heat-shrink.
Can anyone give me any recommendations for a new #soldering iron/station? I like the idea of one like BigClive has with the hot air gun so you can do shrink wrap as well, but not essential. No doubt my old crappy missing iron will turn up as soon as I get a new one! #electronics #repairs
@mw1cgg@mastodon.radio Too late I'm afraid - last two just gone.
Maybe the Walthamstow Tourist Board could be of help? https://walthamstowtourism.wordpress.com/
Okay, all gone.
Maybe I'll continue this silliness in a more fully-arsed manner for 2025 and keep the printing costs half-way reasonable.

@hi_cial@donphan.social Okay, fair enough.
Oh my gosh I just figured it out.
Okay, all you open source evangelist people: your knee-jerk reaction to come at people who are talking about a problem with whatever commercial software they use and suggest Your Favorite Alternatives™ is exactly like saying "why don't you just buy a house?" to someone complaining about their landlord.
EDIT: There's more than one post here. Pick apart the analogy if you will but... beware you'll be proving the point.
@hi_cial@donphan.social I can ship internationally at cost? Would probably have to do Paypal, as failing to sort out something better was part of the half-arsedness, and most of the Brits have just done a BACS payment.
@quixoticgeek@social.v.st @TechConnectify@mas.to @ja@toot.wales Same (I also have both-shifts-at-once to toggle capslock, for the odd occasion it's useful), but I miss it when I find myself using Windows, which last time I checked conspicuously lacked this capability.
Although, the thing about Windows is that someone's probably already written a little utility to do the thing you want... googles
https://github.com/SamHocevar/wincompose looks promising.
@TechConnectify@mas.to @ja@toot.wales I wish Windows supported the key, which is a much more sensible approach to entering rarely-used characters. The alt codes thing is useful for programmers, but it's really not reasonable to expect normal users to have to use it.
@revk@toot.me.uk I managed to stop ours from doing that. Which was just as well, as they had to go away for a couple of hours and jibble something at the exchange before the ONT got a signal.

@andrewxclark@mstdn.social It took about 35 minutes to get home. Would have been quicker to walk, for me at least - @NatalyaD@disabled.social doesn't have the option.
