Need a hopeful story? 22 students at the Eindhoven University of Technology in the Netherlands, 4 years ago, set out to "really inspire people and the market and society to accelerate the transition towards a more sustainable future. What we’re trying to do is to show people and show companies what’s already possible.”
So they made a #solarpunk campervan fully equipped with living essentials including a double bed, sofa, kitchen area and a bathroom with a shower, sink and toilet. It can fit two people, who can drive, cook breakfast and watch television using just the vehicle’s solar-charged battery.
Then they took it on a tour of Europe driving 1,200 miles without stopping for fuel or plugging in to charge. https://www.cnn.com/travel/article/stella-vita-solar-campervan-netherlands-spc-intl/index.html
@volts.wtf
Hard agree. It’s just too obtuse. I need a *little* bit more to follow WTF is going on.
My enjoyment of Severance is somewhat diminished by the fact that I never have any fucking idea what's going on.
Amazing how beautiful and efficient it is living in a functioning society: infrastructure built for people, to make daily lives easier.
Goes for big — Port of Rotterdam's investments to go zero-CO₂ within 25 years — and small: train travel made so easy, it's show up, tap, go.

The casting of “The Pitt” (Max) is phenomenal. So many amazing faces and performances.
Not a new thing, but good to know if you use a Mac:
- Launch System Settings
- Go to General > About
- Scroll to the bottom and click "System Report"
In the System Report window:
- Scroll down to Software > Installations (see pic)
This is a list of things installed on your Mac. Click the "Install Date" column to sort old to new. Click again and you'll see the newest stuff first.
Not necessarily something you need to do, more good to know.
“We will never, ever make this mistake any more. On the steering wheel, we will have physical buttons. Honestly, it's a car. It's not a phone: it's a car.”
Volkswagen reintroducing physical controls for vital functions.
A good start back to sanity.

I'm really getting sick of having to keep turning off Apple Intelligence every time one of my devices updates, which they do fairly frequently. Apple needs to respect their customers' choices and stop this crap now.
I read a lot of hand-wringing about Apple AI from people who don’t/won’t use it.
I wonder if the commentariat is over-indexing on ‘AI’. I don’t really want *any* of the crap everyone talks about — at least not yet.
I’m happily in the Apple ecosystem; I do *not* care if other vioce-in-a-can systems are better.
Siri actually does a (admittedly small?) set of useful stuff for me, very frequently and reliably.
I’d **love** a Siri that works like the dub-dub demo, but I don’t really care that much? If it takes an extra year (or two!) fine.
And what did Rosey Bean think of the trip?
She ran around in woodland (an novelty for her) and made puppy playmates both days. There were also sheep right next to our campsite pitch and many twigs to destroy within reach too. And she got to jump on us four times overnight* -- so all in all, I think she enjoyed it!
(* we don't have room for a crate in the van but she went back to her bed with minimal complaint each time so she'll figure it out. I hope she does anyway 😆)
@jascochran.bsky.social @timrichards
This makes me physically (and emotionally) sick.
Or, you know, how about a FUCKING MINI that is so sorely missed by a vocal minority…
It’s just sitting right there.
@drdrang I am wondering if it’s a case of “hallucinations are real bad when you are trying to do stuff with a user’s own data, because they spot the mistakes”…
