How. How do people live like this? Like seriously. Inundated by ads. I mean, not just the tracking and surveillance behind it... but blatant ads everywhere.
They PAY microsoft to show them ads on their lockscreen.
Remember adware? That would gum up your browsers in the early aughts? Like... that was considered malware at the time and removed by antivirus.
Can you turn this off? Is this a third party widget or something?

For 15 years, F-Droid has been the antidote to Google Play: no trackers, no ads, just open source apps. Now, Google wants to kill it.
Under the guise of "security", Google is forcing devs to register, pay, and surrender control. F-Droid can’t comply without betraying its principles. Thousands of apps could vanish overnight.
Fight back: demand sideloading rights, pressure regulators/Parliament, and defend one of the safe harbors for ethical tech.

#iPhone Pro #tip Are you low on iPhone storage? Go to Settings > General > Software Update > Automatic Updates and then turn off all the options. #iOS reserves space for updates, including system files. I just saved almost 6GB doing this.

@serfninjas Nice! My biggest recommendation is that you don’t have to learn the command line unless you actually want to or really need to do something specific. KDE has lots of options and controls in the GUI so I’d start there if you need to change something.

@brettjungbluth @fedora Thanks! Believe me, if I need a graphical desktop environment I’ll add one ( and post an update ). This is an experiment and adventure. I’ll have to look into the options you mentioned as well. Glad your system is working well!
@brettjungbluth @fedora Good question. Yes and no. Fedora Server comes with tools like a remote admin center (called Cockpit) and container tools so that does make it a little better suited for certain tasks. I certainly appreciate a GUI, but after I have everything up and running I hope to never have to interact with it directly. It’s also partially for the challenge and trying something new and in the event I use SSH to connect to it I want to know what I’m doing.

Home Server PC Update: I got it built last week and just got the BIOS updated and my #linux OS installed! Getting the wired networking running was a bit of a challenge because I had to manually load the driver and fix DNS issues and request an IP address. I’m trying @fedora Fedora Server because I want to try running it without a GUI and it sounds like the #selinux security options are more granular. #homelab #selfhosting This is definitely a learning experience and a process.
