There are differences in the concept, of course, but many principles are very similar, which is not surprising as they are staple sci-fi tropes. I guess this author and I drank from the same sources and have similar interests in storytelling.

Do I need a rompler? No. Do I need a general midi device? No.

But rompler sounds usually fit well together in a mix, making it very easy to lay down ideas without having to think about processing the sounds too much.
