What's going on:
Medicaid is the federal program to provide health insurance for low-income people. It's funded by the feds, but run by the various states and territories. Each state has its own Medicaid program, some of which are just called "Medicaid", and some of which aren't (ex CA "Medi-Cal", MA "MassHealth").
To get Medicaid in the first place, you have to apply, and prove you are poor enough to qualify.
Then, normally, once a year or so, your state Medicaid program gets in touch to ask, "Hey, are you still poor? Send us paperwork proving it?"
At the start of the pandemic, the feds had all the states stop doing that annual check.
THAT is what is going to resume come April.
Problem is, we know from past experience...
