Like some sort of sandboxing, and if you want to get rid of sandboxing then you have to get verified? Wouldn't that be a great compromise? I could make an app, not get verified, but I wouldn't have access to payment, nor camera and recorder in the background. #keepAndroidOpen

@crmsnbleyd @f4grx @nixCraft The biggest issue with open source phone OS'es currently (at least to me) is that they're incredibly lacking in terms of hardware support. Not even the "feel free to install, but if you've got weird hardware you're on your own", but rather, the line currently tends to be "if you do not own one of these 17 specific devices, you cannot run this OS. Period."

It's hard, I've owned my phone since like 2021, I don't intend to upgrade for several more years, but I don't like the way Android is going currently either. But if the hardware isn't supported for FOSS, there's not much I can really do.

Will I be buying a Framework next? I was seriously considering it for quite a while, but this has given me a bit of a pause. DHH etc. are not on that sponsorship list (anymore?), and at least personally I don't think there is much harm in sponsoring the people behind hyprland be they bad at governance or not. We'll see what happens next I guess. They are officially on the GNOME donations page now fwiw, and they do contribute more there than to hyprland which is great to see.

I would understand if framework computer said something like : if we sponsor you you can't support LGBT people but this is not what's happening
