When the in-laws visit and say they will “help” by putting the dishes away whilst the baby sleeps!
Given how much time you spend crawling about with a wee one you would think someone would have invented pads specifically for parents, or is that maybe a bit too knee-che!!!
It’s interesting to see how many male changing rooms at swimming pools have no baby changing facilities or pens when the female changing rooms do. These decisions are probably not explicitly deliberate but do show how ingrained we are to stereotypes and gender roles. It should not be left to mums; dads change babies too!

To see a bunch of white men excuse and “forgive” another white man’s racist and horrific comments about shooting a black female MP is really a new low for UK politics. It would be great to have a party stand on restoring public decency in office but not sure that is going to happen any time soon!
As #MothersDay approaches in the UK, it would be great if pubs/cafes/restaurants/etc offered their deals to all women and not just mums. For many, the exclusion just makes a crappy day that bit harder. Remember, it isn’t always by choice.

@meet_eli@mstdn.business @Twalzer thanks both, I totally agree. Our wee boy was IVF and I decided a long time ago I wasn’t going to go through all that trauma and waste my time working when I could be spending it with him. Way more important and enjoyable than any job! :-)
After two weeks of a four month parental leave it has been somewhat surprising the number of negative and misogynistic comments from other men; the idea that you are less of a man because you have chosen to take time off work and raise your son. If ever the world needed more positive male role models, now is it.

@meet_eli@mstdn.business yeah the financial situation is not great as we have effectively dropped one full salary for three months but we will cope; just very fortunate that we can actually do that and still, just about, get by.
Totally agree about education needing more positive male role models. My wife is a school teacher and has been calling out for this for ages; particularly when tackling behavior and attitudes in boys. Keep up the good work 👍

@bursaar everything from when am I getting my breast implants to making sure I keep the house nice and tidy for the boss getting home. That said, a great number have been really positive which is great, but yeah just a bit odd.
