@xameer I think either gemma3:4b or nomic-embed-text:latest

I was doing 7 LLM lookups an image which was way too many. Gotta cut that down.

I started a little python project to take my ~20 years of photos, categorize them and analyze the content using locally. So far the results are pretty good. Some hallucinations, but mostly useful content.

I'd be interested in knowing if others have tried this. What information has been useful to collect? Face identification is a big area my tool needs some work on. I want to group family/friends.

Tech Giants Are Trying to Cover Up the Environmental Impacts of Their Data Centers

Silicon Valley is using legal loopholes and NDAs to keep the public in the dark about the water and energy being consumed by generative AI.

"A new Microsoft data center in Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin, will require more than eight million gallons of water each year to operate, according to records that Microsoft did everything in its power to keep hidden from the public."

Great Intelligence2 episode with @pluralistic

I loved his call for . It is great how provides countries to provide a viable alternative. Interoperability & being able to reverse engineer the products is key.

This would do so much for innovation, too. The whole focus on printer ink is such a great example, as is the nursing one. Monopolies are anti-capitalist & anti-innovation. Lots I hadn't considered for

"I can't help but believe that in the future we'll see in the United States and throughout the Western World an increasing trend toward the next logical step: employee ownership. It's a path that benefits a free people." — Ronald Reagan, 1987

"Employee ownership that re-centres capital with the workers… where automation is embraced not as a threat to the future of the company but as a way to improve its performance because the workers who are the owners have confidence that they will not be the victims but the beneficiaries." — Jason Kenney

I wasn't expecting this!

Jason Kenney isn't someone I've generally aligned with politically, but really appreciated his keynote at Conference

Perhaps you and I have lived too long with this miracle to properly be appreciative. Freedom is a fragile thing and it's never more than one generation away from extinction. It is not ours by way of inheritance; it must be fought for and defended constantly by each generation, for it comes only once to a people.  And those in world history who have known freedom and then lost it have never known it again. - Ronald Reagan, Jan 5, 1967.
