RE: mastodon.gamedev.place/@godote

Okay so, here's the deal: I wanna submit a talk proposal

Would any content creators be interested in being on a panel about how they market their game, moderated by me who does this for a living?

Or is there more interest in a little how-to of getting started with community/marketing?

Sitting here for the recommended 20min, I am suddenly reminded of the fact that I also was given hydrogen peroxide for my piercing problems before... you can imagine how that felt.

People say that piercings are for masochists, but I doubt they meant the aftercare ๐Ÿ˜‚

You know the saying "rubbing salt into the wound"?

Turns out to be an at home remedy for piercings bumps, at least according to my piercer.

Hurts as much as you would expect from the idiom ๐Ÿ˜…

Just learned about something that unlocked a new level of self- and world-understanding for me.

The "Double Empathy Problem" with

In other words: Why I originally believed I cannot possibly be , because empathy comes naturally to me. Just that people misunderstand me a lot, too.

The double empathy problem

The โ€˜double empathy problemโ€™ is a theory from the autistic autism researcher Dr Damian Milton. It tries to explain why non-autistic people can experience autistic people as lacking in communication skills, including empathy. The theory states that there is a two-way problem, and that autistic people often experience non-autistic people as lacking in these skills too.

The first line in a book carries a lot of weight.

As an avid reader (and copywriter at work), I love comparing all the different ways authors hook us into their stories.

Jay Kristoff's 'Nevernight' just won this game for me:

"People often shit themselves when they die."

So unexpected, yet somehow the perfect way to set a grim scene leading into this trilogy about young assassins.

Especially for an author who declared on the intro page he "does not believe in happy endings."

No, just no. If you can borrow the word "Doppelgรคnger", you can use "StoรŸlรผften" as is.

washingtonpost Lรผften, meaning โ€œairing out" or "ventilation," is dogma in German households. Rain or shine, hot or cold (which, in Berlin winters, can be bone-numbing), windows must be opened several times a day to exchange stale indoor air for the fresh outdoor stuff.
Ventilation, of course, is part of life in much of the world. Germans, however, have codified it in an especially German way. Many apartment leases contain a โ€œlรผftenโ€ clause, requiring tenants to open their windows multiple times a day, even โ€” or especially - in winter. German courts have ruled that, absent specific landlord guidance, a tenant is required to open windows twice a day, morning and evening, for 10 minutes each.
The trend has suddenly gone viral on U.S. social media โ€” and, to Germans' horror, some Americans are claiming it as their own, with a new name.
In recent months, wellness influencers on Tik Tok have taken to promoting the trend of "house burping," or periodic
window-opening.

Halloween decor, a perfect match for my aesthetic all year round, if you as me.

This was a fun build!

TestDisk, for those interested. Couldn't get anything to recognize the hardware in the end though.

Christmas tradition:

My grandpa - who got me interested in computers in the first place - presents me with a recent IT issue of his hoping I can help ๐Ÿ˜…

As a hobby, he picks up discarded tech and tries to preserve (parts of) it. This time: a laptop SSD.

Cue me speed-reading FOSS documentation.

If I had a nickel for every game I played this year that placed a boss fight inside a literal pool of blood, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice, right? ๐Ÿฉธ

Can someone tell me why the self-indulgent dark romance books I bought myself as "light reading" have some of the most accurate portrayals of trauma and more notably the process of healing that I've ever seen?
