I wonder how many applications/libraries/vulns they have indirectly contributed to because the coders/authors/hackers were listening to soma.fm while working. At least a few from me alone.

You're correct that COVID is not over, nor will it ever be. The virus is here to stay. There are people masked, vaccinated, working on pre-existing immunity, and not.

Just like in our industry, there are levels of risk that people are willing to take. You have your calculus and others have theirs. Be safe and be healthy!

So it’s quite a few years ago at #DEFCON, the year before the first #biohackingvillage. We were at the Rio that year I think? It all blends together. And there was a meeting scheduled Sunday afternoon to discuss the possibility of starting a Biohacking Village.

So we show up to this door to a meeting room along one of the hallways. Not much traffic. But the door is locked. We stand around waiting for a few minutes while Goons are radioing and calling around looking for this key.

I look around at the eight or ten people gathered and I say, “Surely one of us knows how to pick locks.”

Surely, several of us did. But even though we were supposed to be in this room, and a lot of people were working very hard for nearly 40 minutes to get the key, everyone refused to pick the lock. #DEFCON31

Twitch sessions have been great

Whoever is sending people at #defcon to the @MisinformationVillage for badge things is making a lot of people sad. They owe me a drink. Or 10.

Interesting observation of day 2 at #Defcon31 the general pace of people has slowed. This could be due to more focus on schedule and getting in line early, the sheer amount of walking being done, or both.

* AI is statistics at scale
* the model is less important than high quality labeled data
* Today’s LLMs don’t “reason”, they “Bayesian”
* humans are easily duped by fluency
* Today’s LLMs don’t introspect
* AI != LLMs
* hallucinations are a Real Problem unlikely to be solved (ed: I personally disagree, and got to ask him why so pessimistic; his answer was 10 mins long but summarizes as that he’d love to be wrong)
