Nomads dot com, the biggest digital nomad community that I've been part of, introduced my feature request. An automated weekly newsletter sends a summary of Nomads' Telegram conversations. Super useful for checking the pulse of our global digital nomad community.

VPN kills your speed. We all experienced it. But your ISP and mobile operator are quietly monetizing your Internet traffic anyway.

Cloudflare's 1.1.1.1 app is the middleground. It encrypts your DNS queries at 10.36 ms. Fast and private. No VPN slowdowns.

Countries are rigid and long-standing.

Cultures are fluid and dynamic.

Which one sparks your interest more?

Grab surge pricing hits often. Fish Bowl is my healthy go-to in Kuala Lumpur, but delivery fees can spike.

Here's a trick most people miss:

1. Search the restaurant name, then tap "See all outlets."
2. Pick the location with the shortest delivery time.
3. It's not always the one closest to you.

NOMAD TIP: Keep at least $50k in your savings account and $100 in cash in your pocket. You never know what can happen. The journey is unpredictable.

Ben ditched the Australian dream of cars, houses and boats to go nomad.

After his long-term relationship fell apart, he rebuilt from scratch.

Learned Bahasa to escape Western echo chambers. Replaced Tinder with a full courtship system. Swapped vague life goals for daily non-negotiable practices.

Being a "loser at home" turned into strong roots abroad.

This is how you rebuild yourself

Countries, for me, signify only passage. What fascinates me is the culture. The intangible. Unique taste, feeling, vibe.

Bum gun is one of the most underappreciated conveniences in Southeast Asia. Perfected by the Japanese as washlets, it's still a cultural curiosity for Westerners.

Honestly, I can't wait for it to become a global standard. Same as the toilet paper.

If you plan to visit Malaysia, the only new app you need is Grab. Because it's:
1. Uber: local go-to e-hailing.
2. Uber Eats: order local delights or fresh groceries.
3. eWallet: connect your Revolut card and pay any street vendor via QR.
4. Mobile top-up: if you get a local eSIM like Hotlink you can easily charge your Malaysian number.
5. Maps: useful for navigating in shopping malls with detailed indoor plans.
6. Unlimited plan: get significant discounts if you order a lot.

The convenience of picking up parcels from InPost smart lockboxes is something I miss a lot while traveling. In Poland it became the default and dominant delivery, utilizing automation, thought-through order flow, and great app UX.

In Malaysia, where labor costs are low, I receive everything via motorbike couriers. But it'd be swifter for them to deliver orders to lockboxes. Easier for me to pick parcels from the machine as well.

Now I wonder if the FedEx deal will help to make InPost global.

Ghost keeps impressing me with useful new features that help grow my newsletter. They just implemented a clever way to verify subscribers' email addresses.
1. You read my post at nerdontour dot net.
2. Type your email address.
3. Ghost checks your domain (e.g. @gmail.com) or MX records for custom domain emails.
4. You click subscribe.
5. “Open your inbox” button pops up that links to your inbox.
6. You confirm to receive my Nomad Tuesday newsletter.

Brilliant and effective!

The Chinese invented fireworks.

Yet Westerners perfected the grand NYE countdown.

I've spent several Chinese New Years in Malaysia. No synchronized display. No midnight countdown. Just scattered pops across a few nights.

Strange, right?

It's a cultural plot twist I've noticed in Asia.

Name the country:
Birthplace of the most notorious WWII dictator
Home of the Terminator-turned-Governor
Origin of Peter Steinberger, OpenClaw founder & new OpenAI hire

Hint: It's not a big state

I failed at my first vlog.
Went live on Instagram in May 2025. Stream quality was awful. Then the captions were wrong. App crashed mid-edit, and I lost everything. Plus, my friends are scattered across time zones, so live streaming made zero sense.
Then I figured it out.
Now recording it with iPhone 17 Pro w/ Rode mic and generating proper captions in Canva. Most importantly, I distribute it across platforms, so follow wherever you prefer.

You don't need a perfect morning routine starting at 5 AM.

You need thrilling adventures, quality friendships, and fulfilling remote work. Which are all achievable if you put your mind into it.

Fellow nomads, your web browser is the most important window connecting you with the digital world. To mitigate scams follow these steps:
1. Switch from Chrome to Brave. It has validated privacy functionality and built-in ad-block, AI assistant, reader, and text-to-speech.
2. Move passwords from the browser to BitWarden. It's free end-to-end encrypted open-source password manager to keep your credentials safe.
3. Do thorough background check of the Chrome extension before installing.

You're not behind, you're just in the part they didn't notice yet.
