@linuxallday I use X11 because I use #LinuxMint because #Cinnamon uses X11, and I don't have to think about these things too much because Mint just works. I'll consider Wayland fully ready when the Mint team does.
My cat's breath smells like cat food.
I'm probably not cool enough to be here.

AI computing is now all about megawatts and gigawatts, like a competition to trash the planet first. Feels like a wild expansionist race to be the company with the biggest e-peen.
I totally slept on #AstrosPlayroom for way too long! Such a great and *charming* game - so much so for the first time basically ever, I've platinumed it :)
๐จ๐ฆ What is OneBC, the Far-Right Party Making Headlines in British Columbia?

The party's two MLAs were both elected as Conservatives, and their constituents are not pleased

* far-right propaganda weaponizing politics in B.C. as in Alberta
* who's funding this? Smacks of corporations, billionaires a la Chip Wilson (Lululemon billionaire; far-right racist political democracy subversive: Take Back Alberta | Vancouver is Dying copaganda film ...)
2/2 In my case, my SSID has two BSSID entries - one for the 2.4Ghz band and another for 5Ghz. So in network settings, I manually chose the latter, saved, and restarted my laptop. Note that disabling all but one band in my *router's* settings didn't fix the issue - manually choosing the BSSID under network settings is key, to stop it from scanning or whatever.

1/2 (Bear with me: not very knowledgable when it comes to networking stuff). Encountered this bug a few days ago (first time streaming my #PS5 with #chiaking since updating to #LMDE 7 (#Debian 13)). Been pulling hair troubleshooting until today. I'm posting in case it helps anyone else having the same problems, because there's an easy fix! Under network settings make sure BSSID is manually specified rather than leaving it blank/automatic.
It's been #snowing today, hovering just below freezing, and for the first time in months I actually feel comfortable outside (wearing jeans, t-shirt, jacket, boots, and hat).
I miss the warm orange glow of #SodiumVapour #streetlamps everywhere at #night. I dislike the newer LED lights; #nighttime in the city is becoming too damn bright and the #aesthetic just isn't the same. :(
@Kroc This is precisely why I don't do rolling releases. If there's a particular piece of software I absolutely need the latest version of, there are other ways of getting it without having my whole system on the bleeding edge.
It's not #Linux people who don't understand, it's people with shiny new things syndrome.
@werdersee I'm glad console lifespans are a bit longer nowadays; there are still plenty of games getting PS4 releases, and ofc the PS5 is backwards-compatible.
If I didn't have my PS5 for some reason and money was tight I could pick up a used PS4 for a couple hundred and still be able to play the majority of games in my library.

"In a normal world, this should be an immense scandal in Europe.
Le Monde has a long article (https://lemonde.fr/international/article/2025/11/19/nicolas-guillou-juge-francais-de-la-cpi-sanctionne-par-les-etats-unis-face-aux-attaques-les-magistrats-de-la-cour-tiendront_6654016_3210.html) describing the hellish life of Nicolas Guillou, a French judge at the ICC in The Hague, due to U.S. sanctions punishing him for authorizing arrest warrants against Netanyahu and Gallant for war crimes in Gaza.
Guillou's daily existence has been transformed into a Kafkaesque nightmare. He cannot: open or maintain accounts with Google, Amazon, Apple, or any US company; make hotel reservations (Expedia canceled his booking in France hours after he made it); conduct online commerce, since he can't know if the packaging is American; use any major credit card (Visa, Mastercard, Amex are all American); access normal banking services, even with non-American banks, as banks worldwide close sanctioned accounts; conduct virtually any financial transaction.
He describes it as being "economically banned across most of the planet," including in his own country, France, and where he works, the Netherlands.
That's the real shocking aspect of this: the Americans are:
- punishing a European citizen
- for doing his job in Europe
- applying laws Europe officially supports
- at an institution based in Europe
- that Europe helped create and fund
and Europe is not only doing essentially nothing to protect him, they're actively enforcing America's sanctions against their own citizen - European banks closing his accounts, European companies refusing him service, European institutions standing by while Washington destroys a European judge's life on European soil.
Again, in a normal world, European leaders and citizens should be absolutely outraged about this. But we've so normalized the hollowing out of European sovereignty that the sight of a European citizen being economically executed on European soil for upholding European law is treated, at best, as an unfortunate technical complication in transatlantic relations."
So fucking sick of #DigitalFlashers (perverts) posting porn without any content warning.
@SecureOwl It used to be, "smash your tv". Now it's "smash your TV, phone, stove, fridge, dishwasher, washer, dryer, doorbell....".
If we ever want luxury gay space communism we're going to have to overcome the "violence doesn't solve anything" brainwashing.
This holiday season instead of lining the pockets of billionaires by buying gifts on Amazon "because it's convenient", support small businesses, artisans and artists near you. Many of them are struggling in this challenging economy to keep their doors open. YOU can help.
@mcc This is the way I am with Amiga (a couple years before my time and not really popular here) and PS1 (had an N64 during that time). :P Now I really like both!
What do sweet potatoes wear to bed?
And for that matter, #Ghana too. Bootlickers.
