@paulocesar @siracusa I’m very positive about them throwing in this line…
Father, husband, son, brother, friend, engineer, photographer, technophile, movie lover, snowboard rider, rock climber & oracle. Is that cool enough? ㊷
@paulocesar @siracusa I’m very positive about them throwing in this line…
@MetalSnake @siracusa Some responses to my original share with ATP that became John’s post have amused me. The line about iPad windows made me laugh out loud & immediately think of the Windows of Siracusa County. Then an hour-ish later, @atpfm asked “How many can you open at once?”
I was impressed with Apple sneaking in this snarky line in what was generally an average video. You wanted multiple windows on iPad - well here you go, have a sh** ton of them. @caseyliss @marcoarment
@siracusa I (metaphorically) snorted into my coffee and then (literally) immediately thought of you when she said that line.
What is going on over there in Apple marketing!? (link via @phirst)

Update: The timestamp in the URL was broken earlier. It’s fixed now, and it should take you directly to a (bleeped) curse word in official Apple marketing!
@atpfm @siracusa @caseyliss @marcoarment
You were asking on ATP how many windows can iPadOS 26 open at once. Well Apple’s official announcement confirms it is “a sh*** ton”:
#askatp @atpfm @siracusa 🛎️ What are the key differences between snapshots and backups? Can you rely on snapshots as backups or for retaining versions and recovery of files (but obviously not as a backup against drive failure, as it’s usually on the same drive). Follow-up: Do snapshots change following the application of Hyperspace to a disc? @marcoarment @caseyliss
@kottke My father-in-law worked as a chippy on the 1967 film, The Dirty Dozen. When escaping right at the end, they drive a big Tracked Daimler-Benz over a Nazi car. It crushed it so flat that it just drove straight with very little bump, and didn’t look good on film. They then built a study metal ramp/frame and filmed it again so it looked like it went up and down over it. You can see the cut from one to another.
In comparison, the Tesla did better!
@siracusa thank you for this! I’m reclaiming now 155Gb on my archived FinalCut libraries alone.
@kottke shame this puts the actual Donkey Kong in a bad light - he’s a cool character, especially in Mario Kart… I used to call idiots ‘Muppets’, but The Muppets are cool, so it’s offensive to the real Muppets. 😎🆒
@jsnell @blankbaby I remember (and then checked back) the Signature was your ‘pick’ last November, so thank you for that recommendation. Maybe it’s time to (ahem) $upgrade$ 🤑
@jsnell great @upgrade episode! Based on your earlier recommendations I bought a Kindle Paperwhite Signature edition last week, my first ebook reader, yay!
I looked at the Settings again tonight and saw a Double Tap gesture option on the back or sides to turn pages. Wasn’t this exactly what you were asking for in today’s episode, that it have an accelerometer to do this? So you don’t have to tap the screen to turn a page? It works.
@acolangelo Is there an issue with Himawari-8 data on Downlink? I see the views won’t refresh and you can’t pick it to create a new custom view. Love your app btw, and thanks!

@daringfireball nice ad

@kottke “Stars and Stripes Forever” 1970 by Bill Stettner. When I first saw this image I thought it was created this week, the one match representing Trump(&Musk). Still very powerful and thought provoking.

@daringfireball if perhaps, TikTok underwent the Severance Procedure to work in the US, could that be a workable solution? All previous works would be forgotten though.
