WANTED: Intel Architecture Labs 1990’s CD-ROM’s. They appear to have maybe been monthly. They contained a mirror of Intel’s ‘download.intel.com’ ftp server, specifically the /ial/ subdirectory which is not in the 2014 backup of the site on archive.org.

Lots and lots of white papers and design guideline documents in there. Especially looking for ones from the late 1990’s (1998-ish onward) if they exist. I’ve seen references in mailing lists to them that lead me to believe they do.
Example gem: intel trying to cover its ass after the FDIV bug, and have some more FDIV

Photo of an Intel Architecture Labs CD-R or CD-ROM from the mid 1990's (september 1995), stolen from archive dot org which has exactly two CD's backed up.

so it turns out that when VS Code asks you “do you trust the authors of this folder?” what they mean is that it’ll auto-execute .vscode/tasks.json if it exists, which can include shell commands.

maybe that’s too many features. you can’t hold all these features. put a few features back

New blog post: Tooling for CSP. CSP is the cubesat space protocol. It is a network protocol used in cubesat buses, RF communications, and groundstations. Here I showcase some tooling to perform CSP network performance analysis and debugging that I have open sourced. There is a tool called csp-iperf that does throughput testing by using CSP ping packets, and a csp-ping-server that can be used in combination with that tool to reply to these packets.

A screenshot of a terminal where we can see csp-iperf running and showing TX and RX rates and packet counts, round trip time measurements, and number of lost packets.

Digiarheoloogi JUKU-aastale tagasi vaadates tuleb nentida, et igatsetud lindiopsüsteem LOS jäi küll leidmata, kuid otsimise käigus dekodeeriti JUKU helikasseti andmeformaat. On kellelgi mõni säilinud? Lisaks leidsid arheoloogid JUKU ekraanilt dokumenteerimata rea nr 241 ja palju muud huvitavat -- loe kõigest täpsemalt kokkuvõtvast blogipostitusest! gafgaf.infoaed.ee/posts/mängud #juku3000 #j3k #unarvara #arvutilugu

@fesshole Back when the movie was released, they didn't use notes made of plastic.
Edit: Apparently the 5£ note (featuring Sir Winston Churchill) was the first polymer note in the UK, issued on September 13, 2016. Movie came out in 1998.

Oh wow. Trump got a hand-me-down Nobel Peace Prize! Did you know: It would not be the first time a Nobel laureate has given his or her medal away: in 1943 Nobel Literature laureate Knut Hamsun gave his medal to Nazi propaganda minister Joseph Goebbels.

@thelastpsion You can discover the udev properties for these devices you want to hand out with: `udevadm info --attribute-walk --path=/sys/class/block/sdX`. Then write udev rules.

One good attribute seems to be `ATTRS{removable}=="1`.

Anyone know if there's an "Anna's Archive"-type free repository for standards documents, like from UL, CSA, IEC, ISO, etc? You know, the ones that are mostly developed with public subsidies but then are paywalled at absolutely ludicrous prices that mean only big companies can actually get access to them?

Searching a bit didn't find anything for me.

Asking for a friend ... 😃

Can we have a Knives Out movie where the entire cast, aside from Daniel Craig, are Muppets?

I just wanna see Benny solve a murder while Muppets are all constantly doing Muppet things around him

My new favourite browser extension is DeArrow. It uses automation and community-maintained overrides for YouTube thumbnails and titles to de-senstionalise, de-clickbait them. It's so nice.

I don't even have to tell you which are the before and after thumbnails.

https://dearrow.ajay.app/

Thumbnail says "MongoDB HACKED" with a YouTube face.
Title: "the mongo db situation is crazy"Thumbnail is a terminal and a guy looking at it.
Title: "Newest MongoDB Vulnerability Explained"Thumbnail is a YouTube Face with "Am I Retiring?"
Title: "The Future of Veritasium"Thumbnail is just a guy standing in front of a house.
Title: I will be appearing less in future videos to focus on my personal life
