There has always been this. No matter the year, the decade, the century, there is a man ready to rub someone into the dirt with the heel of his shoe for power. And yet. There are those who refuse to submit, who will take your hand and say come, let’s move forward together.

The New York Times Is Failing Its Readers Badly on Covid

The paper is letting its audience down and undermining the fight to improve our knowledge of the virus. thenation.com/article/society/

🚨🚨 Did SARS-CoV-2 come from gain-of-function research? And if so, will we ever find out?

I have been on a scientific journey for a definitive answer that took me to the cutting edge of #covidorigin science.

@gregggonsalves they are unequipped to deal with a political moment where faux neutrality aids the aggressor because they rather try to signal their journalistic, non-partisan innocence.
Bothsidism doesn't work when one side does not subscribe to reality.

With the GOP-led House Select Committee on COVID-19 ramping up voter manipulation efforts for the general election, the "gain-of-function #lableak” narrative is back in full swing

Over the last few years, I got curious about whether any type of #GoF research could have created the virus.

The answer is complicated but worth your time.

The exclusive article will finally be available on the 12th of April, with free access for everybody as usual.

We go deep on some common misunderstandings, but also talk about media dynamics, bad actors and institutional trust.

A rare op-ed by me for @BylineTimes

About #scientists losing their home on #Twitter with the rise of information warfare welcomed (and often instigated) by Elon Musk.

"When any notion of objective truth itself is under attack, speaking up for an evidence-based worldview can quickly become a risk to livelihood and personal safety for scientists, journalists and citizens alike."

“It is just over,” journalist @caseynewton told The Post.

“If you wouldn’t join Gab, or Parler, or Truth Social, there’s no reason you should be on X. I think it’s time for journalists and publishers, in particular, to acknowledge the new reality and to get the heck off that website.”

Most of today's digital advertising is based on real-time bidding (RTB), which involves uncontrolled personal data sharing about everyone, including policymakers, judges, military personnel. Thousands of companies access the data; so can foreign state and malicious actors.

I contributed to this new report published by ICCL and @johnnyryan today, which examines in detail how RTB is a national security threat:

As part of book research I’ve been looking for “How Institutions Failed” analyses, across the political spectrum, pertaining to COVID-19. If you’ve read any, whether you agreed or not, please share in the replies or DM. I noticed that many I surfaced in Google search were actually written in the Aug-Nov 2020 timeframe - before the vaccine rollout. I thought this was interesting, given that much of the perception and arguments on social media tend to now focus on the vaccines & mandates.
