🚨 Meta announced today that it will introduce ads on WhatsApp, which will be based on personal data from Facebook and Instagram. This move further consolidates Meta's social networking monopoly. EU law was actually supposed to prevent this.

🇬🇧I can't recommend the EU-funded DNS service #DNS4EU because access is logged. When you override warnings to access "harmful websites" they even log your IP address. techradar.com/vpn/vpn-privacy-

There are government-free services that do not log: privacyguides.org/en/dns

Update: I understand now the IP address is kept for 24 hours to prevent the confirmation prompt from showing again.

Screenshot of policy: "In case the User uses DNS resolution service with one of the additional optional flavors, the service
notifies the User he/she is going to access a potentially malicious, illegal or otherwise harmful website
(a landing page pops up). If the User decides to attend the website anyway, in such a case the User's IP
address is stored by the DNS resolver for up to 24 hours in order to identify the User and not block the
access."

It should be possible to claim compensation for intellectual pain caused by being forced to read the legal submissions of opponents who are obviously clueless and unable to produce any argument other than "We have done nothing wrong! Believe us, pretty please?"

Apparently, if you have facebook or Instagram installed on your phone, was able to track your browsing habits and link them to your real identity even if you never logged in on the web, used incognito mode or a VPN. I hope Meta gets hit with every fine in the book.

Meta is still "certified" under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework although they
- violated the GDPR by circumventing browser sandboxing to link browsing histories to individuals,
- falsely claim to have a legitimate interest in training their simulated intelligence on user data, which renders all data subject rights ineffective, and
- are facing numerous lawsuits because of other alleged GDPR-violations.

Self-certification works great, right?

@debacle

Tired of software tracking you, and using your content to feed AI services? Switch to free and open source software – like #LibreOffice, which is backed by a non-profit (@tdforg) and has zero interest in your data: blog.documentfoundation.org/bl #foss #OpenSource #privacy

You know you can just not use AI, right?

You can make a choice not to be part of this.

Even if your job uses it, YOU don’t have to in your normal life. You don’t have to let your kids use it.

You didn’t have it three years ago. You can just…be on Team Human. You can choose.

We've had the GDPR for seven years now and I still could file at least two complaints per week if I had the time. And I'm not even counting the likes of Meta and its oligopolist big tech ilk, who are hellbent on violating my privacy even though I'm not using their services.

This is so wrong.

The data broker industry proves again and again that they're among the worst when it comes to privacy!

Data broker CRIF has phone numbers from contracts I cancelled before 2011 on file. Those numbers have been inaccurate for 14 years now, yet they apparently saw no need to delete them. And I'm not even beginning to ask why they ever needed them.

Needless to say that I knew nothing about which of my data they had until I filed an access request.
