"Door ajar" versus $100 billion valuation.
Today I learned that you can DoS a Waymo by opening its door.
"The More You Know..."
Waymo, Google's autonomous vehicle company, and DoorDash, the delivery and gig work platform, have launched a pilot program that pays Dashers, at least in one case, around $10 to travel to a parked Waymo and close its door that the previous passenger left open.

Is there a "professional" Mastodon client for high end users? I'm mostly looking for a tool that helps me sort notifications. When you get a few popular posts it's very hard to track everything.
What I like about the fediverse is that there could be a completely separate tool just for notifications
I would like to suggest that folks in #Canada who appreciate the #fediverse and #activitypub learn about and thank @dansup, who invented, developed & maintained @pixelfed for YEARS even while the user base was like in the few hundreds.
Now he's behind @loops and @fedidb as well
His dedication to the open web is so criminally underrated in our country, even though he has been on the global cutting edge of the #digitalsovereignty movement we're seeing in #cdnpoli for the better part of a decade.
There are 2 Fediverse bots I wanted to introduce to each other — I thought it would be funny to have them talk to each other.
But, I am worried they will get stuck in an endless loop.
We've just published a blog post about our time at #FOSDEM this year, in case you missed out - there's plenty to catch up on, from the session recordings.
there's two bugs found in this release candidate so far, thanks for reporting them :) rc2 today or tomorrow probably
[one of the bugs was me (tobi, writing this) trying to be a bit too clever]
Matrix could be an alternative for some people.
But not everyone.
For example, some people would be better served by something where the posts are publicly accessible. Matrix wouldn't be ideal for that.
People use Discord and Slack for different reasons.
If you want to create an alternative — the place to start is NOT E2EE (end to end encryption).
A place to start is understanding all these different types of users and use-cases. And then deciding which of these user types you are making the software for.
Some of them need E2EE, but some do not.

Klaudia Zotzmann-Koch thinks the Open Social Web would get adopted more broadly used if universities, cities, local and federal governments and public broadcasting media etc had accounts. From her submission to the Growing the Open Social Web un-workshop March 2.
