🇪🇺 #EUelections are getting closer! Get active and make your voice be heard about #SoftwareFreedom!
🤔 How?
💡 For example, you can use our share-pic generator and share why you support our “Public Money? Public Code!” campaign. Post your share-pic on social media and encourage others to do the same! 🚀

Is anyone aware of any #researchsoftware #training programs that have been tried that are longer than the common, relatively short 0.5-2 day workshops?
I'm thinking of more spread out training such as an hour/week over 3 months or something along those lines.
Specifically considering things like software best practice, git etc.
I'd like to learn from others whether this has been tried, whether it works and whether it's tenable in research.
I've been teaching git through carpentries (and other) workshops and whilst I think some learners will take the training and move on to self learning, I'd like to be able to support those for whom some more interactive long-term support would be beneficial.

💡 Why is software created using taxpayers’ money not released as #FreeSoftware?
If it is public money, it should be public code as well.

A concept I haven't seen yet: At the bus station there is a repeating short beeping sound indicating that a bus is coming up. There is also a button which, when pressed, tells you which bus is arriving. That's neat!
@sdruskat so far, I'm only planning to attend #deRSE24 and Software Software Sustainability #CollabW24. But I will visit Berlin for leisure at the end of June. Will drop you an email for plan cake 🍰 and chat.
Have you ever struggled to re-use a replication package from software-engineering research papers and you did not know why? We also don't know but maybe we can explore this together?
Jacob Krüger (@jkrueger) and I are organizing the Hackathon "Making Replication Packages Usable (Again)" at #deRSE24 in Würzburg, Germany March 5th-7th, 2024.
Find more information on how to participate on our landing page https://snielebock.github.io/mrpua/
Excited to be in Würzburg for #deRSE24 🤩
All my shirts are ready, too...
Come meet me
- at our workshop on FAIR and Reproducible Code (Mar 5, 9:30 AM)
- after my talk on Improving research through training - the Digital Research Academy
(Mar 6, 2:20 PM)
- or anywhere else where I hop around during this fun week about research software
Three observations at a pre-conference (#deRSE24) workshop in Germany:
1. It's very nice for me that this meeting in Germany with 90%+ German attendees is in English.
2. There are far fewer Macs vs PCs (perhaps running Linux?) than there would be at a similar meeting in the US.
3. It's nice that there is coffee, juice, and coke to drink, even in the morning. Too many US meetings only provide coke in the afternoon, if at all.
@sdruskat I'm sad, too. But will see you in April 🙌
@sdruskat are you at the RSE DE confere this week?
Integrating BinderHub with JupyterHub 🚀
Integrating the capabilities of mybinder.org and #BinderHub into #JupyterHub allows users to control their computational research environments and significantly reduces the workload for administrators.
