Out of the ten Biblical commandments, six deal with how to behave as a human: Honor your parents, don't kill, don't be unfaithful, don't steal, don't lie, don't covet. Most of that is already part of public school education on some level.

So... if you're demanding the Ten Commandments be displayed in public schools, the only thing you're adding is a command to worship the God of the Hebrews.

Apropos of several things floating across my TL, I just want to say as somebody who teaches college:

Yes, absolutely, politically conservative students on campus end up feeling uncomfortable in their views, constantly challenged. 100%.

So do leftists.

So do centrists.

So do students who attempt to be apolitical.

Nobody gets to hang out on campus feeling comfortable and cushy in their worldview. That is…you know…kind of the point of the place.

TL;DR: I went to the Manistee National Forest for a quick backpacking trip last night.

Trip Report

I got to the trailhead at E 58th St around 4pm on Sunday. It was a quick one mile hike into the forest following the North Country Trail.

Just past Bigelow Creek, in The Pines, is where I made my camp. The weather report was clear – no rain – so I slept under the stars. I made a small fire, enjoyed a dehydrated meal (Peak Refuel White Chicken Chili), and listened to nature.

I woke up a bit chilly due to the temperature being 36 degrees (F). My gear is good to that temperature and my mistake was that the underquilt was not close enough to my hammock. I also should have worn socks.

I woke up feeling intensely refreshed. So refreshed that I skipped breakfast and tea and went straight to packing up camp. Until next time Pines.

Consider getting a low-cost travel or burner phone, instead of taking your personal mobile device. The same security guidance applies to these devices, but the amount of sensitive data on the device is much lower.

Without the ability to enroll international students, Harvard will still have no trouble filling its undergraduate and graduate classes. It will take a bit of a hit in that foreign undergrads generally pay more and get less university-sponsored financial aid, but this won't be make-or break for Harvard financially speaking.

The impact will be primarily intellectual. International students often include some of the most qualified, and most interesting, scholars, especially in STEM PhD programs.
