@flowless @FirstProgenitor the worse possibility is that he's like that for free
About me:
The hammer-and-sickle allegedly represents the union of peasants (sickle) and industrial workers (hammer). The other side of the story is that those tools might be used by the leaders and their zealots to decapitate (sickle) and smash (hammer) any dissent.

how to respond if you fucked up
@RussellsBarbershopQuartet if selfagency is commiserating about people decrying your admins decisions, take a moment to reflect.
@kate this is the one, I can feel it
@killeveryhetero @RussellsBarbershopQuartet Ro is one of the people who was directly in the line of fire of the fediblock drama I previously mentioned, as well as being one of the people who put in the work to getting it popular and useful, so he's got the right to be mad if anyone does.
@killeveryhetero @RussellsBarbershopQuartet dealing properly with the number of users we have now is a huge shitty job and if you aren't really into it that's fine. I certainly don't want to do it. But this kind of thing will get us defedded fast from the cool parts of fedi because they are out of patience with similar hands-off spaces going down the tubes
@RussellsBarbershopQuartet @killeveryhetero one slight point, like 900 of those have been here less than a month, this place was a tiny dilapidated shack for way longer than it's been a functioning community
@killeveryhetero @dubsteppenwolf I do not think it's a good idea to publicly air reports to repudiate them unless it's something you really want to stake the reputation of the instance on, because it will be seen as the official stance and it will attract people who agree with the behavior.
@killeveryhetero @dubsteppenwolf I think the connection there is that this comes very close to, suspiciously close to in fact, a big dust-up over some newbie jackasses deciding to launch a separate website called fediblock and when asked to credit the people who did the work of building it as an important resource, who are BIPOC and built it largely to protect BIPOC, threw a tantrum about not receiving the amount of civility they thought they deserved.
@breakfastgolem hate to say but the vibe has not been great since twitter migration started. Not like we had an instance culture before, it was just like five of us around a burning barrel in a half-collapsed warehouse like some 80s movie, but now that one is developing it's not really something I enjoy
The extremely hands-off moderation has only worked as long as it has because no one wanted to launch drama using here as their platform
@moviemorgz truly it was, a song of ice and fire
@BestGirlGrace I just took a cursory look and apparently jerk off dates to 1865.

I never would have placed it that far back. It mentions "toss off" as another 19th century coinage and that feels more 19th century now because it hasn't stayed current. Anyway, for a genre-savvy femme outsider in a Victorian context, I'd probably go with "if you're going to relieve my hysteria,"
@vegetablegremlin my mind autocompleted this as Peele rather than Peterson and I was trying to figure out why he decided to suddenly suck so bad
@ItsMorgan it costs the same as a regular people but they leave out the alcohol
Queer family in the Deep South with 2 kids needs help in between jobs!
We’ve been doing really well (employed) for a few months now, all caught up on most things. Unfortunately our budget got fucked by my wife’s job ending about $2600 short of when we were told.
I know there’s no replacing that lol, but hoping to hold it down until the next assignment by finding about $100!
grateful for any boosts or assistance!
