the duality of customer support chatbots: this one isn’t using an LLM so it doesn’t understand any of my questions, but if it did use an LLM, I would have no reason to trust any of its output is true anyway

@rinmari damn, OLR is still around… shout outs to V by Doricia
I played Persona 1 years ago, but my save got corrupted, so I started it again, and I feel like it’s such a sick game that gets bogged down by how hard it is to find your way around the overworld map
I've said a number of times this is the problem with reading large amounts of misinformation.
You start reading all the bullshit stories and nonsense science and bits of it sink in at some level. You may not remember the source but your brain's gonna retrieve it anyway and tada, it's fact now.
@mia you’re older than I am…
but I do think pagers lasted longer in NA than abroad, I feel like they were around in the mass market until maybe 2001 when cell phones started gaining traction
@mia yeah but I meant the pagers that only show numbers
I refuse to believe zoomers are bringing pagers back
It kept coming up, so I wrote up a list of compilers, assemblers and toolchains available for the WonderSwan on the WSDev Wiki:

“Civilization V has the best movement in the series” is kind of a wild thing to overhear when you know nothing about Civ aside from “it’s some sort of strategy board game thing”
#wayback, a small project gluing together wayland components to turn Xwayland into a full X environment, is now published: https://github.com/kaniini/wayback
there's definitely a gazillion bugs, which will need work across the entire stack to solve.
however, unlike Xlibre, this is a sustainable path that is intended to reduce the number of X components in distributions.

Big life changes on the way, so I need to put the YouTube channel on hold for a while. More details here: https://youtu.be/BHx4UAsbZgI
@nytpu I feel like TGM4 has one of the worst improvement feedback loops of the series :(
You know, I could write a whole blog post about this—and I might—but I think we need to start addressing the very likely possibility that the *entire thesis* that “UI should get out of the way” and “apps should focus on content” is wrong.
Apps aren’t just for looking at photos or videos. They’re for navigating through these things, organizing them, editing them. The tools to do those things should not get out of the way. They should be clearly defined and separate from the content.
if you use an early Mac OS X version, from Public Beta thru Mountain Lion, I have resurrected my old “Native OS X Applications” page. Many links are broken, it’s true, BUT many aren’t. I still find it useful when using older Macs / emulators.
(Apple finally made their own App Store in 2011, causing my list, which started in 1999, to be discontinued in ’12. It had a good run.)
my old coworkers took me out to the all you can eat sushi place. I have been in a food coma for several hours
