I'm all about privacy. Big Tech and the government are treating our data like an all-you-can-eat buffet, and I'm not having it. I'm a metalhead, black, bleak, crusty, and loud as hell. I've got no time for far-right or left nonsense, conspiracy theories, or any of (that) (fascist) bullshit, especially the 参政党 vermin in so called Japanese "democracy". I'm all about FLOSS because freedom doesn't come wrapped in a corporate bow. I'm sarcastic as hell, and if you're easily offended, go kick rocks.

@gullevek actually, this crime against language was created in 1930s by the government. Nothing recent. And once they've realised it's causing issues, mostly in IT (for example Aichi vs Aiti - different Prefectures), they have decided to finally accept Hepburn. But abolishing kunreishiki is causing issues - because of kunreishiki.
I am taking crazy pills. Who teaches romaji writing like this. Hune??? Like. Da fuck fuck east??
@gullevek ah, 訓令式. The gov't has been abolishing this for decades, yet it still appears here and there. I never understood why they even invented this.
Speaking as a qualified Italian teacher (yes, even though my family background is Singaporean Chinese), it's quite fascinating that gendering loan words from languages other than English can be an art form in itself.
Tl;dr: normally masculine by default, but exceptions can be made based on what they visually resemble, and if the template already has an Italian name.
The year is 2025. Social is entirely occupied by Enshittified Corporate Goons. Well, not entirely. One small decentralized platform of indomitable nerds still holds out against the invaders....

@redhero a true person of culture!
@tokyobybike super epic teeth sucking and 舌打ち - but it was approved by Tanaka-san and his 3 bosses firmly approved by hankoing...
@redhero now you can lose your headphones with something that stands out!
I love how Japanese websites have a language option, but when you switch to another language you get redirected to a totally different page with ~8% of the information as the page you were on.
Fucking jap tv is yapping about bad foreign drivers. Yeah. And how many are there if you count the japs. Fucking shite TV
@unseenjapan Feels like these people just have to be against something, no matter what it is. Imagine if someone suggested school lunches weren’t 和食 anymore but, say, insert country here. Same outrage. Yet it doesn’t threaten their lives, lifestyle, or anything personal in the slightest.

An X user laments that Japanese manga and pop culture retailer Mandarake is using crappy AI imagery for a poster seeking new employees (look at the store name on the woman's lapel, and the number of digits on the guy's hand in the bottom left)
@SeanBreslin Passkeys were supposed to kill off “password123”. Instead, the implementation is so clunky it feels designed to make you stick with your password. Great idea, brilliant failure.
2003 called, they want their password rules back 😔

@FlockOfCats when they tell you that "!" or "/" can not be used, you know the security standards will be absurd. Escaping is fun
@FlockOfCats Just wait for it. It'll start hallucinating, people will jailbreak it, advice on drinking glue. It'll be fun. Feature, not a bug.
