@FirehaK Again, same energy! I can listen to video game music sans lyrics when I'm working, but I can't do a podcast or anything that has words for me to decipher when I'm trying to focus on technical work.

I also skip the frills in videos if I'm trying to find out specific things. It's like when you'd find those old posts with recipes where the author tells their life story before they post the actual recipe. Hahaha.

I didn't know how to necessarily articulate it in the moment, but I think the depth is the differentiating factor for me, too.

I've noticed that I tend to skip shorter podcast episodes or episodes that don't seem to get into the weeds about a particular topic.

That said, I've listened to a handful of podcasts that do news segments and as I mentioned, it is a bit hit or miss. I think it really depends on the hosts, too.

Like you mentioned, I'm also a huge fan of both KF and BTB, so I'd be more inclined to listen to news if it came from, let's say, Dan, Jordan, and/or Robert, because I know I can still expect that level of depth from them no matter what.

I think it's a combination of liking the personalities of the hosts as well as their ability to provide a necessary amount of accuracy and detail. (Among other things, but I think those are the main points.)

Articles always feel like they have a good foundation in terms of searchability and longevity if you want to access it at a later time. (Compared to the quick blip of a tweet.)

In terms of podcasts, I do agree. It sounds like you're like me and usually listen passively or because you want to hear an engaging story or topic across a certain duration of time. And, I've been wondering about this myself and wanted to get your take--

1) What draws you to those podcasts specifically?

2) How could a news podcast potentially be more attractive to you?

I've been dabbling in listening to podcasts that provide news (in general) and it's a mixed bag. Some grab me, some don't, and I haven't figured out the why behind it.

@SoonerMedic Yes! The best kinds of articles are well-researched ones. I especially like when they provide additional context into attacks, for example, and attach static visuals or screenshots as supplemental content.

@FirehaK This is exactly why I like written articles as well! It's easier to navigate and skim the most important aspects of a story and minimize the time spent waiting for the information to come to you.
