Anyone can become disabled at any time. It’s one of the few minority groups you can always join.

People know about stuff they need for their jobs, their hobbies, their friends, their family, if they're very attentive their friends and family's hobbies also, and whatever random facts they hear in the pub or see on the telly. If none of the above involves the insides of computers then they don't know computers, this describes vanishingly few of the people on fedi and most of the people outside it

Did you know you don’t actually have to introspect or compromise at all when building community with ppl if you just think of certain ppl as “scolds”?
Cuz if they’re scolds, then their complaints are totally invalid, and you can toss them right out the window and keep feeling good and morally righteous about yourself! Cuz they’re scolds and that’s icky!! You’re so much better that you deserve to call them names, as a treat :)
