@stefano PS: if you want to get a Mac, searching the Apple website for „refurbrished“ is a nice option for cheaper prices on quasi new hardware.

@stefano I wouldn‘t think about anything around the corner. IMO, current Silicon is absolutely fast enough for any of my needs.
I also have an M2 Pro Mac Mini which is as awesome as the laptop.

@stefano thanks. I was pretty sure, the native OS is the most Energy friendly.
I use a MacBook Pro M4 (plain). It is an awesome machine. The nano texture screen is the icing on the cake and a much bigger deal as initially thought. I couldn’t go back to another screen. Now waiting for a more affordable desktop screen with nano texture.

@paul weirdly this is not enough to get rid of the red dot in system settings. To get rid of that, i have to occasionally also disconnect ethernet and disable WLAN and then run `softwareupdate -l` in terminal.
If Linux/BSD had a better GUI (which isn't stuck in the 90s), i'd probably be switching in a heartbeat.

@paul i blocked net access of softwareupdated via little snitch. Drastic measure. Bad Apple.
