i hate when i make a friend who is a big advocate for many social issues but they turn out to be anti lgbtq. like how r u fighting misogyny and racism and capitalism and ableism and all sorts of prejudice but u draw the line at gay and trans people? its even more devastating if they are religious (specifically religions other than christianity) bc i feel like i need to respect their beliefs.

i finished reading On Tyranny by Timothy Snyder. it was a pretty light read. i could’ve finished the entire book in one day if i hadn’t been busy and a bit lazy 😅

the book had some good points and i learned a couple new things. however i feel a bit unsatisfied. im not good at book reviews so im not sure if i can put into words how i feel.

however, i feel like it has its place so i still recommend it but id probably go for other books first.

I recommend this podcast on NPR created by Vivian Yoon, a Korean American who grew up in Los Angeles in the 90s. It's really a beautifully done series, that weaves stories from her own life (hiding her love of Korean music because it was uncool!), and stories from her parents and grandparents to provide a really deep exploration of the genre. If you're a K-Pop fan, or just curious, I recommend it.
