I visited a lamp post on a bridge in tokyo that has been used as the center point for distance measurements for centuries. In the 1960s they built an expressway over it but made sure to suspend a replica of that lamp post over precisely the same spot. It’s a totally gratuitous shrine to infrastructure and I love it
Housing the largest aircraft and missile facility, the Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson is a trove of aviation history. Bernhard Lang visited the site in 2022 to document the aircraft organized in neat rows and grouped by model.
