@audiodude "Consumers" usually have little to no say in where their energy comes from. Wealthy corporations decide whether to build a coal plant or clean renewable energy. So it is unfair to blame society at large. Furthermore, the energy usage of the average person is far less than the wealthy; the wealthy account for most use. The wealthy regularly fly around the country in private jets multiple times a week, putting out huge amounts of pollution, when the average person almost never flies.

As MLK Jr said, none of us are free until all of us are free. Capitalism keeps us all poor, and many are unjustly convicted and jailed to protect capitalism. True freedom only comes when we have a political and economic system that works for all of us.

Eugene Debs was the Socialist Party candidate for president in the early 1900s, and was jailed for speaking out against war and the draft. Debs spoke out for the workers exploited by capitalism.
