Are the memories I have of writing Book 1 untrue? Why can I only remember this feeling of ease throughout the entire process? Why can’t I remember the struggle? Perhaps if I could remember how challenging it was I’d be able to cut myself some slack for how unbelievably difficult Book 2 is.

Probably rags-to-riches. I've written the most in that one.

I think my actual favorite is "young person gets magic with puberty" because I twist that one to "women get magic with menopause."

Probably counter-intuitive but don't invest too much in the launch.

Make friends with some fellow word-herders who manage the same flock. A good word in the write ear is worth way more, and a lot easier, than trying to get the attention of strangers.

Focus on what's most important, building your catalog.

If the book isn't ready to go, get that taken care of.

If the book is ready to go, start working on the next book.
