Queer persons suffer and also some queer persons have privilege. Both privilege and suffering can co-exist. Calling out the privilege of a queer person is not to negate their experience. Especially when it is to point of their oppressive behaviour.

Being queer is not the only identity. A vile behaviour needs to be called out. Excusing the behaviour because of the queer identity is not a way to be an ally. It is patronising because you refuse to see the person anything other than being queer.

Its rather unnerving than plain creepy to be followed by someone from the who just made a profile on @Mastodon considering the long oppressive history of objectification, exploitation, transmisogyny and brutality Indians have faced at their hands. Hey, I know. He, individually, may just be a good guy. Whatever. But all our collective trauma is more than enough to not feel safe with a uniform wearing profile picture watching what you have to say.

When you hit a match on , do you need to specify what's between your legs to proceed? With almost every match, I have to check whether the guy understands that I'm not a but a person, in case they dont enquire themselves. Most of them ask if I have had surgery in order to proceed. It always feels like Im being interrogated to even be eligible to be here. God forbid, if I stoke their wrath, because they didn't bother to read my profile carefully.

@TheStyleWallah Yeah exactly. There's a way to post links too in the Content but you need a technical process to make the links be active and clickable which I didn't understand... (It's explained in the settings page though)

@TheStyleWallah Instead of them asking you a question and you answering it, you can pose your own question (label) and answer it (content). Eg. Instagram - @yourhandle

Hello,

I'm Shubham. Im a (urban privileged) transfeminine genderqueer individual from Delhi, India. I was never really active on Twitter, I guess I missed the bus. So Mastodon is a fresh start of sorts. Of course, I come with an agenda. Talk, rant and vent about transfeminist politics, and the kinds of misogyny that comes one's way when they own up to their femininity in a male body. Not that anybody cares. But that don't mean it shouldn't be said.

While we laud these like and about much appreciated new for gender inclusivity, it still asks you whether you want to be included in the search for men or women. As a , the search pool of "women" is the only space to find bisexual men. Most men indiscriminately swipe right on almost every profile. After you hit a match, some realize that youre and hurl transphobic abuses at you. What is the algorithmic solution to after all?

The thing about in Delhi is that even if a guy shows genuine interest in you as a person (as opposed to random straight men toying with their fetishes and fantasies) you're never sure if the scope of that interest limits to their sexual desire of you alone. The plausibility of love, romance and dating always feels like an expedition to hunt for El Dorado...

Well I was never really into Twitter much as I always perceived the whole concept rather and rapid 400 characters limited updates . But meh. Maybe I'll cave in now after all. Simply because, every Goliath needs to go down inevitably...
