Re-enacting Memory: 10 years ago today, Day 2 of Waterloo 200.
We were defending the Hougoumont structure.
There was not much left of the walls after the battle moved away from us!
On this date 10 years ago.
Back in Brussels.
After having heard about the big events for decades, at last we have had our Waterloo!
Waterloo 200 in 2015.
The first battle on the evening of the 19th.
Experienced that "oh damn!" feeling when forced to remain in square with cavalry milling nearby and infantry coming up to pound us.
Something not many folks have seen!
INSIDE the courtyard at La Haye Sainte.
In 2015 it was on our route to the battlefield but the column stalled as a cannon broke a little ramp/bridge on the other side.
Gave us a chance for a look around!

On this 210th anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo, we look back at this narrated slide show I did of the Canadian expedition to Waterloo 200!
On this date in 2015, I finally made it to Waterloo!
I had heard the stories of previous events for years.
I was determined to go. Just did not think I had to lead an organizing committee to get there!
In 2015 the battle recreations were to fall on the evenings of the 19th and 20th.
Waterloo! I feel you calling. Soon now. Real soon!
Reenacting memory: from 10 years when the Crown Forces North America arrive at the Allied Camp for Waterloo 200.
Re-enacting Memory: 2015. In Pursuit of Napoleon!
Amsterdam to Antwerp, trying to ignore the distractions!
And then onto Brussels.
After years of planning and working on the Canadian expedition, we were getting close!
Whoops, more darn distractions!

It is hard to explain to people who do not do it, just what reenacting means to me.
This is my home away from home, my community, my second family and many of my best friends.
Every time I go to an event it feels like a major reunion!
Re-enacting Memory: 2015 the adventure starts.
Heading off to celebrations in Cardiff and then onto Waterloo!
Doing this again in 2 weeks!
Reenacting memory: 2024 Stoney Creek.
Heading that way to set up this afternoon!
